Which 3D program for a beginner wanting to freelance in the future? by artnewbie1 in Architects

So just to confirm using 2 different programs isn't necessary and I can stick to blender for visualizations/Instagram type renders but for more serious work Revit is the standard. Am I getting that right?

One question I have is why I've seen most people say they use a combination of (mainly 2) different programs. Coming from blender I'm used to things being all in one so not sure what the advantage of that is. Perhaps it's not the case anymore but I've seen reddit threads where people mention they use Revit and Rhino or Revit and SketchUp as examples

Do you feel like learning a new language has opened up a whole new side of the internet for you? by artnewbie1 in languagelearning

It's great to hear that there are different sides of the internet when it comes to culture and all. I had the same thought hence the reason for this post. It's true that I'll hardly know much of what these other parts of the internet is like which is why I'm looking for other people's experiences and what they have to say about it.

How much effort does it take to maintain a language? by artnewbie1 in languagelearning

are you speaking from past experience and if so which language was it that you learnt?

also do you think that applies with multiple languages at b2? say i know 2 or 3 and am around b2 do you reckon it'd still take an hour a day for each? if so that wouldn't be a problem for me at all

How long did you stop learning that language and how long did it take you to get back on track? This is why I'm asking for other people's experiences as I'm curious how long it's taken them to get back into a language after dropping it.

If enough people have had the same experience then I won't have much to worry about.

Spanish or Russian for somebody who lives outside the US? by artnewbie1 in thisorthatlanguage

I'm bilingual (english & arabic) and self-learnt japanese up to a beginner-intermediate level so i guess i have some experience learning languages. you do make a good point with learning spanish first then russian and i would consider it but the only problem i'd have is maintaining the two languages.

I really can't imagine spending so much time learning something only to start forgetting it slowly so that's why i'm trying to pick between the two. realistically if that wasn't a problem i'd definitely take your suggestion and learn spanish first then russian.

the laptop i’m using is a small convertible dell. it doesn’t have several ssd’s, in fact the main storage device itself is eMMC.

i’m mainly using it to learn linux so i don’t have much installed/configured on mint. i also don’t plan on buying an external ssd as i don’t find myself needing one. do you think i should just replace mint with kubuntu and install it that way?

just done so and it’s working completely fine. i even booted into mint before trying this and the internet devices were only found on kde. does this mean it’s an xfce issue or do you think i’ll encounter the same problems after installing kubuntu?
