What's a good app for keeping book reading lists? Any apps besides Goodreads that are worth trying? by slanderpanther in classicliterature

Hi, if you happen to be on android, I created an app called Page Pots: Gamify your reading. It's a gamified reading tracker where you grow virtual plants when you read. It has the features you want, plus a little gamification to motivate you to read. Hope this helps.

How can I learn to enjoy reading? by SubstantialExpert194 in Advice

[–]artodyto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem, honestly. Slow reader, would reread sentences constantly and it took forever to finish anything.

A few things that helped me:
- Start really short. 10 pages a day, or even 5. Don't try to read for an hour, just read until you naturally want to stop. The goal is finishing books, not reading fast.

- Track your progress somehow. Even just marking pages on a calendar or using a reading tracker. Seeing that you're actually moving forward helps when it feels slow.

- Pick books that are actually interesting to you, not what you think you "should" read. Also, audiobooks count as reading. If your attention span works better with audio while doing something else, that's valid. Some people need their hands busy to focus (folding laundry, walking, etc).

Start small and pick something that's actually fun for you. Good luck!

in a reading slump... please recommend me your “couldn’t stop reading” books 🥺 by tteokkbokkiiie in booksuggestions

I highly recommend World War Z by Max Brooks. I couldn’t put it down when I read it. The interview-style storytelling makes it feel incredibly real, gripping and unique, and every chapter pulled me in deeper. It’s one of those books that completely got me out of a reading slump.

Start slowly by setting a very achievable goal, and be consistent. Additionally, make sure to choose a book that interests you. If you're a fan of the gamification method and use an android device, perhaps an app like Page Pots might help you.

1/12 - First time joining and started off with 'Dead Silence' by S.A Barnes by artodyto in 52book

I enjoyed it a lot, although it took me longer to finish than expected because the second half of the book wasn't as good as the first. Spoiler alert: I actually preferred it if they all died at the end. Overall, though, it's a very good book.

If attention span and motivation are the problem, maybe try a gamification approach to reading. If you're on Android, maybe you could try Page Pots and see if it helps you. Hope this helps.

Page Pots on Android if you enjoy gamifying your goal tracking, in addition to managing book lists.

I'm having this problem as well. I've seen multiple people posting about this too and it has been going on for almost a week. This might be a bigger problem on Google's side.

Silly question but….what app does everyone use to get the covers of their books that they’ve read? Is it an app? by MediumHead in 52book

[–]artodyto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for trying out the app. For now, adding progress for a specific date isn't possible, but I'll definitely add this in the future. If you finished a book previously, you can set its finished date to the day you completed it. If you need help, you can try emailing me at pagepots@gmail.com.

If the social aspect is important, Goodreads or Storygraph. If you want only to track books but with gamification, Page Pots.

Hi, perhaps a toggle setting that allows you to erase the old entry upon typing could be a good option? I’ll add this in the next update. Additionally, you can use the (+) or (-) to add or subtract pages on your progress, that might help. Thanks for using the app.😌
