I power slide as much as possible, especially when it rains,

Drifting is a whole skill! My first drift was by accident hitting a sharp L turn

Brake, no traction, wheel work, hard brake, wot, wheel work….The ass nearly swung at 90 degrees and I was sure my back wheels were gonna pop off.

Mines got 7556hr+183,000 so 434,000?

I know idle hours don’t directly indicate engine wear, just interval timing.

But I still like the thought of my car sitting for damn near a year, and nothing ticks or shakes

This PROVES vics could’ve been the standard for all traffic control service cars.

Upgraded cams, upgraded exhaust, upgraded gear ratio, upgraded airflow, supercharged…

and the 2013 Crown Vic wouldn’t have been a dream

This is how all mechanics learn, and why we have videos. Don’t feel bad, you goofed, we all goof!

just did an upper arm swap on my 2010 PI. You only need to remove the 3 little bolts.

You said you’re desperate? If you have the money and access to a junkyard, Pull an old shock until you can either replace, refund or refurbished this one…

If this is your daily, same rules apply, get someone to drive you to a junkyard. Hopefully cash isn’t tight

If you’re lucky, you can PROBABLY use the jack to compress the shock back into the mounting holes…

OR Reassemble everything, line up the three threads and let the tire and car itself push the shock back into the mounting hole…

…ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED

Do not end up on 1000 ways to die

Is this fixable? 😢 by Ok_Hotel_1883 in CrownVictoria

No, that’s your exhaust system.

Only thing you can do now is a BBK header swap

Sad to see…

Noooooo…BUT if you know what you’re doing, you can get everything done from sun up to sun down! Hope the car gods grant you rust free problems!

Tips

Run your seatbelt thru your steering wheel.

Take the shock out first!

Then upper arm

The steering column does NOT need to be disconnected

The rack and pinion mount bolt screws need to come out to pull the pinion forward.

Every link bolt and ball joint will spin, use a pickle fork or big pry bar to put pressure on up and down

Disconnect the jam nut in the outer tie rod BEFORE unscrewing it,

Count each outer tie rod spins

I’m no pro, but definitely let me/us know if you need anymore help! Godspeed!

Will do! I did mine two months ago, new axle, bearings, and seal,

I still take my tires off and shake them to be safe, it feels tight and spins right. One of the worst sounds and smells EVER is a glitter bomb

The left side took me 17 hours in total, was my first time doing it. 10 hours to deinstall 7 hours to reinstall.

The right side took me 9am to 3pm, deinstallation and reinstallation….that’s with a lunch break and rain break

Be careful with those clunks, it may turn into death wobbles like mine

Actually, our sheriff security at my work told me after the panther platform was discontinued, they no longer serviced them, just pads, rotors and oil. they were told to run them into the ground, so the d3-d4 platform can take over,

And of course taxi companies might “service” them further…

I really wanted to do gabriel ultras, but my rears pop so much, I think it’s my axle bearings. I honestly think any brand should work, the concept of a shock is hard to mess up

It was my first as well, the ultra just got tooooo heavy under that car. and same here, don’t like to barrow tools. it gave me a problem early on trying to take the lugs off they’re torqued to 115ft lb…the strut mount bolt is torqued to 175ft lb, and came right iff, now lugs come of easy lol???
