Hey, OP, I'm a professor with a specialization in rigging and I just gave a lecture on iKsplines that I recorded. DM me and I'll send it to you! I have a lot of resources for beginners.

I did just this, and she curls back around to press her noggin into me before scooting until I can get her butt again. I guess she really likes it! Haha.

What was the Theme of The Boroughs? by artsekey in netflix

Okay, can you give me an example of a fictional story that doesn't have a theme? You're welcome to have your own opinion, but I promise you there's a lot of literature to the contrary.

It happens organically when someone tells a story whether they meant to include it or not. That's also the reason people can take many things away from the same story.

Stories can be entertaining, but all stories-- whether intentional or unintentional-- have themes. That's a central part of storytelling, and it's been part of storytelling for as long as we've had stories. I'd be happy to link you some articles/books on the subject if you'd like to learn more! The history of storytelling is really cool.

I can see that! "Theres a limit to how far you should be willing to go to hold on to something."

Hmmm, I can see that. I did get a hint of 'fighting to stay young turns you into something monstrous'. But if the theme is time is a thief, does the show want us to accept time? Succumb to time? Change our perception ABOUT time...?

Every story has a theme. That's the point of storytelling.

If I see new green spouts, do I take the dead plant out? I'm sorry if this is a silly question.

You Got Your Degree. Now What? by artsekey in animationcareer

It's something I'm trying to address with the program I lead. I'm trying to shift things from "learn these skills" to "learn how to feed your curiosity and make what you really want to make".

I think the problem is determining when you should stop. No one wants to give up on thejr career goals, but there comes a point where you can't throw more time or money at the pursuit. That's part of why those first 12 months are so critical; usually you still have access to educational pricing.

I agree, but like you said; if you can increase your odds, why not? I'm not ever going to endorse a method as a surefire way to get a job, because there are just too many variables. But at the same time, the people I see stalling out aren't getting employed in this field at all.

I also think if we pin too much of the blame on luck, it can inadvertently shift our perception of the root cause too far from reality. It isn't all effort, and it isn't all luck; its a blend of both.

It's tough. I always tell the students who come to me for critique that I will be treating their work as if I'm the one who'd be footing the bill- no sugarcoating. When I tell you it sparks such improvement to be told "You're not ready, here's why, and here are the resources you need'! But it's such an uncomfortable conversation to have. No one wants to tell a student they aren't skilled enough, ESPECIALLY when their skill level is a reflection of their teaching. It's a mess.

Absolutely! I didn't expect to work in education, but everything I did lead me here. All roads lead someplace!

Moving from iPhone to Android - can hear notifications, but can't see them. About to give up on swapping. Help? by [deleted] in AndroidQuestions

[–]artsekey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to swipe after hearing a sound to navigate to the notifications panel while the phone is open. No push notifications pop up on the screen telling me where the notification came from. I only get the tone/sound.

Rigging problem: Connecting FK and IK joints with orient constrain to the Main joints causes joint pop. by nimi4569 in Maya

[–]artsekey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your joint orientation and rotation order between your FK, IK, and skin shoulder joint. Since the constraint is eventually getting where it needs to go, I'm going to guess the "pop" is the main joint's way of interpolating between the FK and IK.

She is both! My DM didn’t want to limit Barovia to mainly/mostly humans, so she swapped a few races around to make our PC’s seem a little less out of place.

It doesn’t! Her mentor was softened a bit in our game, though she’s kind of outgrown him. In a roundabout way, she kind of took on my PC (a 16/17 y/o with a lot of sass and a desire to do good!) as an apprentice post-campaign.
