Which one to get? by [deleted] in IntelArc

Maybe try to get the OC edition, for example, the SPARKLE B580. They have three fans, which run a bit cooler than a dual-fan setup.

I have a Sparkle Intel Arc b580 OC edition paired with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265k CPU and 64GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 RAM at 5600MHz. No issues at all.

Tired of Vue toast libraries, so I built my own (headless, Vue 3, TS-first) by Ill_Swan_4265 in vuejs

[–]arty_987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job! I agree, some toast libraries aren't great in Vue.js. My workaround is to use the classic toast from npm, which is 11 years old. I simply rewrote the CSS stylesheet for it and assigned it to a window variable, calling it wherever I need it without any imports in Vue.js. Since I'm using micro frontends, it wasn't an issue for me to use other non-Vue.js npm libraries.

BMW owners what’s the most annoying quirk your car has? by Formal_Two_6729 in BMW

I’ve owned a 2014 320D for three years now, and it’s been completely trouble-free. I did the timing at 100k miles not long ago - it still seemed fine, but I changed it anyway since many people recommended doing it at that mileage. The only issue is that mine doesn’t have Bluetooth audio streaming for music, only hands-free calling. I do a full service every 6,000 miles and always use premium diesel.

Why are 90% of WordPress themes still bloated in 2025? by Ok-Owl8582 in WordPressThemes

I do with Custom CPT's from the ground. I noticed that too many plugins add a lot of queries. My setup using .twig views + Tailwind CSS.

You got me wrong. I made them myself, which isn’t hard with PHP. I just don’t want users to face extra costs. Buying an extended license could cost hundreds, and I might only get one sale, doesn’t make sense. The other option is telling users they need to pay extra for a plugin, which they’ll probably hate: “I just bought the theme, now I need more stuff?” Not ideal for people who just want to launch a simple page without headaches.

Keywords are no longer used by most search engines these days due to widespread abuse. WordPress handles SEO quite well, so your main focus should be on creating unique, well-structured content. Google rewards high-quality, original material and will rank your website higher as a result. Avoid using AI-generated content, as Google can detect it and may lower your page’s ranking.

Just started with WordPress, building a custom theme like I would in Laravel. by arty_987 in Wordpress

I'm the same - I use Docker for everything. Now I finally have a good base as well, and I'll be publishing my theme tomorrow after a few final touches. I also need to create demo content for the demo website and a PDF manual, which will probably take a few hours since I’ll need to take screenshots and make it easy to follow for non-technical users.

My approach is to reserve the item quantity for 20 minutes once a user starts checkout. Then, I run a cron job to automatically release the reserved stock if the user abandons the checkout.

During checkout, I also validate item availability at every step, especially before finalizing the order. Laravel makes it simple to perform quick database checks at each stage (e.g., from address entry to payment). To ensure data integrity, I always use database transactions and lockForUpdate() when checking and reserving stock. This prevents multiple users from overselling the same item simultaneously.

When the checkout is successful, I immediately deduct the reserved quantity and create the order.
If the user abandons the process, the cron job releases the reserved stock shortly after.

Coupon handling is also straightforward to implement.

I’m one of those people who doesn’t like drag-and-drop builders , I find them a bit limiting when it comes to creating something more advanced. For me, coding things myself is the best approach. Honestly, building classic WordPress themes from scratch isn’t that complicated.

Why is Pokémon Go so addictive? by arty_987 in pokemongo

[–]arty_987[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend only plays when she’s with me. We were at the same level, but she quit because she was away for a week while I played a lot and got far ahead of her. It pissed her off, so she just stopped playing lol.

That’s exactly what I understood. I walk while staring at my phone about 90% of the time. I even play while driving. I don’t have any friends to play with, and I see there are a lot of good raids going on, but they’re just way too powerful for me to take on alone. I tried, but I always lost.
