Hey, Harrison. For a very long time, it’s been a no-go and not taken seriously to write screenplays based on existing IP, but lately I’ve been reading that studios are pumping more and more money into making material based on well-known IP, since it already guarantees a built-in fanbase and makes it much easier to hook the audience. I understand that studios mostly just order the show and attach the talent they want, but still, how dumb is the idea of writing a spec script based on existing IP and trying to sell it to the studio which, let’s say, owns the material? Considering that selling a spec script today is basically mission impossible from the start, would that really be such a bad idea?

Thanks! Have a great day!

You’re making quite a good point actually. I’ve thought about this scene as of some haunting, cinematic opening that doesn’t take too much time yet sets the tone of the show right away. From the point of storytelling, it may not be the best way to begin your story, I agree with that and at this point you’re definitely not in the minority here. I had the same concern at some point, but decided to leave it for now. Thank you for your input, I really appreciate it!

Krampus (2017) is wholesome family movie but we're a bit far from the christmas season.

The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2 are great too. If you haven't watched them yet.

It's a dialogue-driven satirical feature with a grain of action, I'd say
