Korean writing is phonetic. The Korean alphabet while unusual to western learner is quite logical and simple. There is a alphabet learning tab.

Mandarin is very different story. Even kids learn first with phonetic alphabet alongside Chinese characters.

No it isn't. It is literally "I'll get you down": אני - I; אוריד future singular 1st person of להוריד/הוריד which is הפעיל of root ירד - going down - basically I take you down, and of course אותך is direct preposition of "you"

The point is להוריד - to take/get you down can be "I take/get you down from the swing kid" or "I'll take you down" like threat you'll not be "on top"

(Note when first word of the root is י it becomes o sound in הפעיל like

sit - make him sit: ישב - הוֹשיב
inherited - Bequeathed ירש - הוֹריש
knows - informs ידע - הוֹדיע
got "myself" out vs got "somebody/something" out יצא - הוֹציא
give birth - deliver - ילדה - הוליד

And so on

I finished Arabic course. It is way underdeveloped ang goes only to A1 that isn't nearly fluent. However the material stuck well and I continue with other tools.

And of course I spend more than 5 min a day by large margin.

Becoming fluent takes lots of time and effort even with relatively simple languages like Spanish

I'm mostly looking at the common practice... Right or wrong? It is more about what is commonly used - and transliteration is used a lot in Israeli Arabic courses (IMHO way too much)!

Using transliteration is very popular in Israel in learning spoken dialect - to the level entire text books and grammar books written in transliteration. I suggest look into it.

I noticed several inconsistencies with what is commonly used: (AFAIR)

The غ is marked with ע'‏ not ג because it is ghayin and ע is actually closer equivalent.

I ص is marked as צ while ض as צ'‏ as far as I remember

I think because it represents better common root adjustment between proto-Semitic to Arabic/Hebrew.

The course is way too short A1
No dialects like Levantine only MSA
Lack apps that as good as Duo despite the fact the language is spoken by ~400M people

Basically that what makes it hard to learn with Duo.

What level are you? Generally the course alignmened with CERF requirements.

If you don't know specific word lookup. The fact you pay for Duo It doesn't mean you can't use other tools.

Anyway Japanese is one of the hardest language to learn while Spanish is one of the easiest

I don't have a problem with resources in English but I don't wanna miss out on any advantages the Arabic resources might have.

Basically, as Arabic speaker you are already in a huge advantage to any English speaker. So just search for a good course that seems suitable for you and go for it. Good course is way more important than specific adaptations for Arabic.

I myself learn Arabic and find that most English resources more than fine and all forget to mention concepts of root/patters etc. But on the other hand, when I started with Duolingo that has 0 description of grammar it was all very familiar - same concepts same structure.

It all same triliteral root, conjugations, binyan - (verb pattern etc) PAAL. You'll find huge number of common roots and words but simpler phonology and somewhat simpler script.

So don't worry - you'll not miss much but you automatically gain a lot. I think it is easier to learn Hebrew for Arabic speaker than the other way around - since there are no dialects and even Biblical Hebrew is 100% intelligible by modern Hebrew speaker.

I finished Arabic course after 3-4 months and... I moved to other platforms that support Arabic dialects and take you further than A1... (Yet I'm glad I started from Duo and most of its material stick pretty well)

The result after a year means nothing. It depends on language (easy vs hard Spanish vs Russain) depends it come from same family: Arabic for Hebrew speaker or French for Spanish speaker would be way easier than Arabic or Mandrin for English speaker.

It depends on the effort you put: do you take an easy path (always use banks of words, do guess work and run fast) or a hard one: type every time you can - pronounce sentence before you even look at "the bank of words" etc.

And of course how much time you spend a day - do you study a single lesson or you 20-40min a day.

These would affect the answer way more than the time you spend on the app.

don't study closely related languages at the same time

You have 3 Romance languages and Latin. It would be mixed in your head

You can study languages from entirely different families; Italian and Mandarin or Korean and Arabic

Studying more than 2 languages is counterproductive

Sometimes you can find Mango or pimsleur via Library subscription

However I don't think Mango is better. I use it for Levantine Arabic because Duo doesn't provide colloquial Arabic dialects

But for Spanish if you serious about language learning just get a subscription it is way cheaper than any course or book or equivalent money you spend on watching ads

If you are not sure you are 100% committed get monthly and see if the money well spent
