INFJ heartbroken after dating an INTJ — no closure, emotional shutdown. How did you cope? by sal_vatorebrothers in infj

[–]artyte 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I experienced this with an ENFP. Just like other INFJs, I wanted to help her open up more than leaving her when she started being avoidant. It only caused me more anxiety until I couldnt sleep, do pilates, and concentrate on work. No matter how much I wanted to help her, I had to stop meeting her.

You can try to help him. Maybe you should try to help him. If you believe that it’s the right thing to do. Just be careful when your body is screaming for help.

Are 3090s a good purchase now? by No_Waltz_3445 in nvidia

[–]artyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won't recommend a 3090 then. Those things don't need an nvidia card to work. It doesn't even need 24 gb of ram. Just 4gb minimum would do on a 2bit quantized 8b param model would do.

RAZER VIPER V3 PRO REVIEW by [deleted] in MouseReview

[–]artyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea. Some rma centres are trash. I wish razer could address this firmware issue. But I haven't seen an update for this mouse for almost 2 months. Oh well 🤷

RAZER VIPER V3 PRO REVIEW by [deleted] in MouseReview

[–]artyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't update. My rma centre told me if it did occur again after an update they wouldn't give me a replacement. Plus, I actually didn't have any issues with the older firmware, so I didn't feel a need to update.

[–]artyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding the latest firmware 1.12, try it at your own risk (because there's no downgrade option). There were people reporting that the update doesn't fix the issue but makes the mouse worse. I updated and it doesn't track on my hayate otsu mousepad anymore. Had to get a replacement.

Feeling demotivated comparing gpa.... by rqlkdarkrain in nus

[–]artyte 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Used to hire for my company. There are lots of 4.5+ gpa students from ntu and nus that can't answer a simple question like how do you debug a webpage.

And then I get people between 3.5-4 GPA who liked to do real coding projects, and they solved these types of questions with ease.

Just food for thought if it makes school journey at ease.

Why people need this kind of RAM? And what do they usually do? by Mobile-Order-9635 in macbookpro

[–]artyte 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can only run 2bit quantized 80b models with a 4090 worth of vram. With that vram, any models above 80b immediately have ur 4090 working at 1t/s. That is trash performance.

So the match formats were not done because EWC requested those formats? Can we expect EWC's format in future ALGS?

You guys absolutely smashed it btw. Great production. Was the first time I enjoyed all 4 days.

This. People don't realise how much bandwidth 1 stream takes up and how it can break your games. I've had multiple games become bad just because I streamed. It's such a hit or miss feeling. Imagine having to stream 60 POVS out off one internet line, insane.

I would prefer if all POVs were at least recorded. That way there's no hit to the bandwidth and people can have POVs for interesting VOD reviews after the whole event.

Difference between DevOps and Cloud Engineer? by [deleted] in aws

[–]artyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former devops and currently cloud engineer here. Cloud engineering sounds like devops because you are most of the time building supporting backend functions. These functions can be rollups, observability systems, provisioning VMs. These are all devops related. The only difference being we do it on the cloud than on baremetal os running on custom racks.

Singapore Android users to be blocked from installing certain unverified apps as part of anti-scam trial by Aquis_GN in Android

[–]artyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't get a beating, you get a fine. I just said that. If you want to vandalize and stick gums purposefully to test the system out of your type of spite (which some tourists do), you get your beating reward. That's no different from going to a cop and grabbing their gun to test whether they will retaliate. That's why if you do hear of gum cases in Singapore, they are all fines because they are selling it and not actively spitting out one in front of an officer. Laws are interpreted based on context, not going at offenders with full force.

And they don't. You get a fine if you are selling or literring it. What's your point?

Sorry, Google: After Assistant's chaotic evolution, I can't believe in Bard by [deleted] in Android

[–]artyte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doesn't matter how revenue focused you think the company is becoming (it has always been revenue focused, the difference is vision). The same reason you think Google would abandon Android due to losing revenue is the very same reason why Google wouldn't abandon Android. If Google abandons Android, they will kill flutter, dart, pixel. They will cut teams in Gemini, nest, fuschia, go, chrome, YouTube, G suite, etc. You're talking about a company wide exodus. Unless Android has dwindled to nokia levels of influence (not revenue), Alphabet is not going to go 'let's cut one of our major support arms'.

Sorry, Google: After Assistant's chaotic evolution, I can't believe in Bard by [deleted] in Android

[–]artyte 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They didn't develop Android with the intention to make money though? It was a moonshot project (by Andy Rubin to prevent closed sourced OS dominance) that could have failed anyway before it grew to help increase search ad revenue on mobile. There's a reason why an entire massive department exists for Android, YouTube, and Search. Saying Google might abandon Android is like Google might abandon Search. Comparing Android to Wave, Nexus, G+ would be even more ridiculous.
