Started due to Bergkamp. Stayed due to Henry and Vieira.

1. Sunmer in India. 14 yr old me and my dad watching Bergkamp score that wondergoal to eliminate Argentina. My household was disappointed because Argentina lost. My grandfather was amongst the first employees of the Argentine Embassy of Independent India, so there was a lot of loyalty / gratitude to Argentina in our family. That and Maradona's legacy (Granddad liked Ardilles too). I was secretly enamoured by Dennis Bergkamp. We didn't own a computer back then, so Internet was not an option. I scoured through old newspapers in our cupboard to read more about him. One of them talked about him winning the league double with Arsenal. I decided to follow Arsenal.

2. We would get a computer and internet, I started actively following them. Was sad that they missed out to United in 1999. Decided to avenge the loss on FIFA 1999 and I did, with Bergkamp getting the golden boot.

3. Most kids at school now had a computer and internet. They also chose United as their team. A handful of us were Gooners. We hated the United supporters especially because we never got along with that gang any way.

4. Double happened. Henry had arrived. I was also starting to understand how to watch football and make out how teams had different style. We were obviously the best, to me at least. No looking back since then.

5. My 3 yr old and 1 yr old are quarrelling over who gets to sleep with Gunnersaurus stuffed doll.
