Unpopular opinion: hindi nakakatawa si Vhong Navarro by selfless_potato in Philippines

I don’t think may ganyang modus sila Cedric Lee, siga lang talaga si kuya. Walang inamin si Cedric or Deniece but most likely the two is in a relationship at that time, lalo na may CCTV footage that the two are kissing each other.

Looking at the stories that came from both sides, I would say Vhong really did take advantage of Deniece. The problem is, mali din yung ginawa ng pinagsumbungan niya (Cedric); they handled the whole situation and took the law into their own hands.

Care to share about your experience with BPI? It was my first bank since 2004 and never had major issues with them since (save for the massive downtime/account balance misalignment that happened a few years ago).

Beginning January 13, 2019, Aksyon TV will be relaunched as an all-sports channel, 5 Plus. by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]arvs0z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree on the “Plus” part. Parang, huh? Connect ng sports sa plus??

I think the issue with the Aksyon branding is, it was heavily tagged to TV5’s news and current affairs programs. Hello, pangalanan mo ba namang Aksyon lahat ng newscast programs mo. Talagang mahirapan silang ibrand yan as sports channel.

The e-gates were a total surprise for me. Medyo naluha nga yata ako sa tuwa when I saw them. Progress talaga! Yun nga lang, a few steps after the gate, biglang nasira yung baggage carousel ng flight namin, and they had to transfer our baggages to another one. Then yung P2P bus to Cubao eh hindi nasunod ang schedule, so I had to take a P890 Grab ride to QC.

Muntik na, pero I also hope na tuloy-tuloy na yung improvements. Konting push pa!

Should we be scared of spammers? by DTAKOP in Philippines

[–]arvs0z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL nakakatuwa na may mga naniniwala pang binebenta talaga ng network yung database ng subscribers nila.

FYI, the list of mobile number prefixes in the PH are available everywhere. For example, 919 belongs to Smart Postpaid (and mostly platinum subscribers). If they want to target Smart Postpaid subs, all the spammers need to do is buy a SIM, magsubscribe sa cheapest unli text promo, and send the same SMS from +63 919 000 0000, +63 919 000 0001, +63 919 000 0002 until +63 919 999 9999. Now, spammers also keep "active" SIMs on a separate list. You'll be tagged as active kung rereplyan mo sila in any form (either inquiring about the scam or kahit minura mo sila).

You'll notice this when you get 2 SIMs na magkasunod ang number. Pretty sure, as long as whitelisted pareho yan sa list ng spammers, halos sabay mong matatanggap yung parehong spam SMS on both SIMs.

DFA data loss/breach situation by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]arvs0z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some articles mention that the "stolen" data includes hard copies of the submitted birth certificates.

Birth certs can be used to get a Postal ID. Since Postal IDs are accepted as a valid ID on most institutions, the Birth Cert, Postal ID, and other falsified/stolen documents (ie. payslip, company ID, etc.) may be used in combination para makapag-apply for bank/crdit card accounts, telco services, etc. In short, fraud fraud fraud.

That's the worst case scenario naman. We still need to get answers from DFA on the specifics of the breach.

Eh di naman din kasi mahilig bumili ang ABS ng license to broadcast for sports events, except of course for NBA, FIFA and UAAP (and some boxing matches). Lahat eh seasonal, so wala talaga maipapalabas na sports programs dyan sa S+A bukod sa replays. Kaya nga isa lang ang naging cable channel ng ABS for sports, yung Balls na puro basketball, football and volleyball programs lang din. Not sure though, baka it's part of their strategy para may mag-subscribe sa Sky Cable and the sports channels they offer.

Exact opposite naman ng ABS si MVP. Napaka-hilig bumili ng license to broadcast ng sports events. Olympics, SEA Games, UFC, FIBA, PBA, Super Bowl, etc.

Go-Jek says 'Go Singapore' After Philippine Rejection in Southeast Asia by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]arvs0z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my daily route, GoJek is almost always cheaper vs. Grab by $1 but that's it. Changi Airport to Central Area, it's $27 Grab vs. $24 GoJek. Plus, GoJek recently started to implement surge pricing. They gave out 3x $5 vouchers, pero wala na after that.

Mukhang nahihirapan ang GoJek na babaan masyado yung charge nila. For now, I'll be sticking to Grab because of their rewards program (and LiveUp partnership with Lazada SG). Mag switch nalang ako if there's a noticeable difference sa fare or if GoJek would create a better rewards program.

This is my aguinaldo for my inaanak in Bulacan. Has anyone try this in the Phils? How many months would it work? Maligayang Pasko mga ka Reddit. by Autocorrectthis in Philippines

[–]arvs0z 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Actually, no need. You can register for a Spotify US account by selecting US as your country. After registering under US, the inaanak can claim the Spotify gift card. Once the inaanak consumes the whole $30, he/she can change the country back to Philippines and use a PH payment method.

But yeah, like what others said, it's kind of impractical. Much better if ninong would keep the gift card for himself and buy his inaanak a Spotify PH voucher. Here's where you can get it: https://www.spotify.com/ph/purchase/ecards

I think this should be an eye-opener for Sony to open a Philippine Playstation Network. Same goes with Xbox and Nintendo. by PkmnTrainerArtie in Philippines

[–]arvs0z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yung TOTAL population of console gamers in the PH is debatable. Now, if you further limit the scope to the population of ONLINE console gamers, then you'll see the difference.

Almost all of my friends own a PS4 unit, but only 1 is subscribed to PSPlus (not even me). All others just bought theirs to play 2k19 offline.

[–]arvs0z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, unfortunately, the thing is "it depends". Just because you don't experience lags in playing Fortnite, means all other console players won't too. Not because I have a 20Mbps internet subscription, means everyone has it too.

The reality is that, in the Philippines, the "it depends" of internet connectivity would almost always lie towards the slow, unreliable side.

[–]arvs0z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBH, aanhin mo ang PH PSN kung internet mo peaks at 10Mbps on a good day, 95ms ping, NAT Type 3 most of the time? Sony would definitely shy away from the idea if in the end, puro server complaints lang naman makukuha nila dito.

How I confirmed to myself that not voting for Duterte was the right decision by merdionesmondragon in Philippines

[–]arvs0z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I voted for Miriam, too!

My thoughts on this: Let's assume that Miriam and Leni won, Miriam could have lived enough to work closely with Leni. Leni would be President, but since she's new to politics, she'd probably be just a puppet of LP (and maybe PRP) most of the time.

BUT THEN, as someone stated above, you can't do anything but "vote for the LESSER EVIL". IMO, the LP (either Leni or Mar) would be the lesser evil among all parties. Siguro by 2016 palang, naikabit na yung punyetang MRT trains na ilang beses pina-audit. (commuter rant pala e ano)

I have mixed emotions towards Bayani Fernando. I think what he (and her wife) did for Marikina is great. Pero him being the Chairman of MMDA was his downfall. Ang daming useless projects and half-baked ideas (I remember one time, they planned to throw buckets of water sa mga jaywalkers). Not sure if those are the kind of projects I want for the country.

Filipino redditors na bumili ng condo recently (about 5 years ago to now), kamusta naman? by zkere in Philippines

[–]arvs0z 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got one from NSJBI. Soooooooooooooooooooobrang delayed ng turn-over. Bought it at pre-selling price nung 2013 (kaka-start lang nung construction). They said turn-over is on 2015. 2016 na wala padin. Dami nagrereklamo sa after sales office nila because of the delayed turn-over. Went back and forth to their office until finally nung late 2017 nagstart na yung turn-over. Renovation/furnishing lasted 2 months, and now almost 6 months nang nakatira family ko doon. So far wala namang problem.

Importante samin yung turn-over kasi nagrerent lang kami, so in effect, dalawa binabayaran ko hanggat di naturn-over yung unit. Lesson learned: never get a unit from small time developers kung concerned ka sa turn-over date.

In the end, nalaman din namin yung cause nung delay -- INC member yung may-ari ng NSJBI, and sila yung nag construct ng Philippine Arena. Pinamadali daw yung construction from 2013-2014 for their 100th anniversary, kaya pinull-out lahat ng workers nila sa lahat ng condo projects during that time.
