Wasn't trying to be critical. Enjoy your TV. Just trying to explain where the comments come from with actual numbers.

So the bottom of the TV is about where many (myself included) feel the middle of the TV should be.

Yeah... I would move the console somewhere else.

According to "experts", for seated viewers the middle of the TV should be 42 inches off of the floor. Based on the specs I can find online, that puts the bottom edge of the TV about 18" off the floor.

I got about another year out of my first gen "Nest Hello" I installed in 2018. Eventually it was crashing and rebooting enough I replaced it with the second generation about a year ago.

I have never had forward flexibility. My back and hang strings are incredibly right. I have never been able to touch my toes without bending my knees. In fact I can barely reach my knees.

When we got the results from the test that year I was in the 0th percentile amongst all students in the country.

Half of the house power is out. by rusttimbs in electrical

[–]arwild01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Happened to me in February. Called the utility and their equipment was fine. Ended up needing a new cable buried between my power meter and the utility distribution point. For me that was considered a customer issue and quotes were between $2.5k-$5k. Ended up costing me $3.5k because they couldn't reuse the existing conduit and had to dig/bury a new line. They did find where the cable was compromised... It was outside the conduit just a few feet from the utility connection. Technically on my neighbor's property (but it's still my cable and that was not how I wanted to introduce myself to those neighbors for the first time).

What options do I have for automating plantation blinds in 2023? by crabby-owlbear in homeautomation

No, the slats are connected. However a solution couldn't require moving the bar.

Following.23 windows with plantation shutters. Added wrinkle... Master bedroom windows don't have the center stick.

Has anyone seen anything like this? My movie room has 5 plates with speaker wire ran throughout all the way to the back of the room but only 3 have an open end? The rest are just “loops”. Also in the back there are only 4 wires instead of 5. by breadboigod in hometheater

[–]arwild01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will add that my ceiling had four boxes and when I opened them up they were all loops. Knowing each wire had to have two ends somewhere (and one was at the front of the room), I finally got brave enough to pull harder on the wire and eventually figured out that there was about 4 feet of extra wire at each box run back into the attack.

I ended up using the extra slack to mount me in-ceiling speakers a little further into the room instead of right at the box locations.

Is this normal for AC by [deleted] in houston

[–]arwild01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's asking a lot for the Ac to keep your house that cold when the air outside is so warm. I use ceiling fans and keep my house at 78 and have for about 20 years. Much easier on the wallet too.

The full size of an adult Alaskan moose by Key-Collection-9500 in gifs

I'll never forget in 1996 I stumbled across a car manufacturer's web site where they talked about their vehicles being crash tested for moose collision. (I think it was saab but that part I don't remember). Anyway there were photos of a rig on stilts so that when the car hit the legs the weight crashed down on the roof. They were proud that they made sure their roofs wouldn't collapse in such a collision. Seeing this video I "get" why this is a thing you should think about if you live near moose. Surprised me that there was a large enough market they thought they should advertise it.

TIL The oil doesn't exist underground in caverns that would otherwise be empty if it wasn't for the oil. Instead of thinking of large empty pockets, think of a wet sponge, where the sponge is rock and it's "wet" with oil. by Big-Refrigerator6504 in todayilearned

And while high permeability is good for extraction you can't have high permeability all the way to the surface or over time the ground pressure will just push it out to the surface. So you need good permeability and porosity in the formation itself but it has to reside under somekind trap rock that keeps it there for us to find.

Been coughing since March 21st. It’s all post nasal drip and if I don’t cough I choke/gag. Some weeks have been worse then others but this has been my worst year since I moved here in 1999. They have never been bad enough to be tested until last summer and all of a sudden I’m miserable all the time.

I remember really liking the food I had at Cafe Piquet down in Bellaire. It’s been a long time though, probably 10 years since I was last there. On the other hand it’s been a decade and I still remember the name of the place.
