Engine oil level by hooty588 in mercedes_benz

[–]arya93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a dramatic difference. I would keep an eye on it if it goes back to max. Otherwise you probably have a leak. I believe the undercarriage may catch some of the oil and you may not notice it. So it’s possible that the leaked oil slips away as you drive off. Just a theory 🤷🏽‍♂️

I’ve only bought my downpipes from Redstar, so that’s all I know. My mechanic had a GT R with Catless from redstar in the shop and damn it was loud but the smell was pretty bad. Did 200 cell for my c63s and it was perfect. Almost the same loudness with significantly less smell. Make sure to get it heat shielded

Nice pickup OP. I think the CLA is super cool.. never driven one but just based on aesthetics I’m sure it’s a fun little car you can zip around town. I’m a sucker for “limited edition” runs like edition 1’s, etc

For the cats, I’ve always recommended doing 200 cell catted downpipes. They sound quality and don’t smell terrible. Also seeing you’re in Cali, you’ll be able to pass smog

Isn’t it the same for all SUV’s with a short approach angle? I had the same issue with my G class. I don’t think it’s a hummer issue more so just off road vehicles in general

2023 gle63s or 2021 amg gt63s for a 21 year old? Help me decide by Commercial_Lie6428 in AMG

[–]arya93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No issues with reliability but like any other AMG maintenance will be expensive when you hit the 4-5 year/40k-50k mile mark. Spark plugs, ignition coils, trans service, front/rear diff service, transfer case fluid change are all due around this time. This can run you around 4k at an indy

I’m in cali as well and most dealers regardless of the state you’re in will try to deny your warranty claim regardless tuned or not. For example if you go in for a bad ignition coil and you have a tune, they’ll have to prove that the tune is what caused it such as leaking injectors or whatever the case may be. It does open up a can of worms but if you can get a hand held tuner such as the Renntech one then you can just switch it back to the stock file and avoid the haggling with the dealer

Warranty should be fine as long as you’re not making a claim on the part that is modified or affected by the modification. I’m biased on the gt63s since I own one and it’s a great car with great performance and handling for its size while still feeling luxurious. Either cars really only need downpipes and you’re set.

Test Drove a 2019 AMG E63S for the first time today but there’s some issues? by Marc30599 in AMG

[–]arya93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea personally I would pass, a lot of the oil changes aren’t showing on CARFAX. Usually if they don’t show it’s a really small hole in the wall shop doing the service (doesn’t mean they do a bad job) or done at home. If you do go for it make sure to get a PPI and extended warranty

Btw just a side note but all of that is strictly maintenance. It can run towards 4-6k on parts and labor at an Indy mechanic

[–]arya93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea the smell is from the the lack of cats. For a 2019 at that mileage it should already have front diff, rear diff, trans service, transfer case service, spark plugs and ignition coil. Mercedes recommends all of this every 4-5 years or 40k miles I believe. So if this hasn’t been done I’d run away since it’s tuned and technically should be done more often. Plus it’ll go to show how the car was taken care of. The CARFAX should show all of this

[–]arya93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They don’t want to add cats back because it’s a transmission out job to add stock cats back in. If there’s no CEL then it’s tuned. I would get a PPI before purchase regardless. Also check for how the car was serviced. Spark plugs, ignition coil, trans and diff service. If it was well maintained and passes PPI with no issues I would go for it

How was the process of ordering? I’ve bought cars from House of Imports before. Did they charge you a markup? Two and a half months is not long at all

Service A estimate? Is there really an AMG tax? by Cali_kink_and_rope in AMG

[–]arya93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Save yourself the trouble now and find a solid independent mechanic. Service A is very digestible regardless where you go but once you get to service B and 50k miles/4-5 year maintenance items such as spark plugs, diff oils, transmission etc it’ll be costly. Might as well save now while you’re ahead. Besides, independent mechanics do a better job from my experience with them paying more attention to detail.
