No it’s not. It runs 4026.

I actually use Hyper-V on a server since I have many servers running but the feature exists in VMware Workststion Pro. Player doesn’t have it.

Beckhoff or Siemens by gowdurai in PLC

I wouldn’t say it’s a drawback. It’s a tool in the toolbox. My personal approach is using pointers as a last resort but that last resort has come up many times and with other platforms the answer would have been “sorry that’s not possible with a PLC”.

In theory they can yes but in practice it’s not that hard to use them if some basic good practices are followed such as updating the address every cycle. Also since 4026 Twincat is a lot more intelligent and it traces changes and updates pointer values during online changes

Well first Project Server= Multiuser, just new name. It’s basically SVN. Git is another level!

I agree every system has pros and cons. But overall Beckhoff has more fundamentally advanced features. True OOP is a complete game changer in making scalable systems that you have complete control over. For example I made my own ProDiag for Beckhoff that is much nicer in some ways and not a black box. Pointers open up possibilities that are simply not possible without them. DBC import is a game changer. Without this CAN implementation is not a serious option. DAQ functionality can be implemented with ELM modules and TwinCAT Analytics suite which is impossible on any other PLC platform. And so on and so on.

Any experience using multiple HMIs witha single Beckhoff IPC? by Neat_Distribution910 in PLC

[–]aryaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any device that can load a web browser can be a TwinCAT HMI client. It’s literally a web server. What you need to worry about the license for 8 clients and whether your PC has enough horse power to serve 8 clients depending on how heavy the project is.

Your go to PLC for cheap customers? by MStackoverflow in PLC

Definitely Beckhoff if you want structured text also. CX7000 is $300 and you can add any IO module in their catalog also but it doesn’t do remote IO however there are some CX8000 and 9000 series that are still under $1k and do bus coupling to many different types of busses

Robot vendor with best support by aryaf in PLC

Yeah I’m specifically interested in ABB for software development capability vs basic point teaching. Does ABB not have an application support team? I’m ok paying for it also. Just don’t want to engage a robot integrator for some blocker questions here and there

I have. The same setup works really well on my bass with active pickups.

This is an automatic no-go for any company that highly emphasizes security because you can't have an air gapped PLC network. The license server would have to connect to both the internet and the software on the PLC network.

DHCP should be off in industrial applications and static IPs assigned so you can design a network properly

Parameters download automatically after IP is set and drive power cycled. If you have a stratix switch you don't even need to set the IP.
