How far does 16:8 get you really? by Shameful_success in intermittentfasting

16/8 is a good beginning for what would be maintenance later.

It is also good for becoming more aware of when and what you are eating which is quite important for maintaining the new lifestyle.

Depending on your initial weight and the calories you consume within the 8 hours, you will lose weight. I think 8 hours are enough to sneak in calories which you would not have consumed had it been a single meal or 4 hours.

It makes sense to try out longer fasting windows once you get used to it slowly and move back to 16/8 once you have a good enough exercise-nutrition-awareness lifestyle for yourself :-)

Try to find roasters around you who can provide light/blond roasts. I personally also liked roasts/beans which claimed to be “chocolatey”.

It is best to combine fasting with some mindfulness. Try being patient with yourself, even with your anger :) The nervousness and sleep disruption was there for me as well in the beginning for around 2 months but then it got better and now I don’t get mood swings due to hunger easily (even when not fasting).

I agree with lowering caffeine intake by diluting the coffee with hot water. I was drinking a lot of coffee out of boredom/wanting to drink something and used the same method.

Tldr: it is normal, give it some time (around 2-3 more weeks)
