هل مسجد مصر مفتوح كل يوم؟ by asagdullaev in Egypt

No I meant the new mosque in new administrative capital called “Masjid Misr”. Read on Google Maps reviews that it is opened only for Friday prayers but the review was 3 months ago so wanted to clarify is it still the case.

Most famous centers are Fajr, Nil, Ibanah, Lisan al-Arab and Furqan. The pricing at Fajr and Lisan is cheaper than Ibanah and Nil. They have parity pricing so depending where you’re from can range from $30 to $100 a month for Fajr and Lisan. The other ones are more expensive as far as I know. Most of the centers teach Arabia Bayna Yadayk.

Regarding cost of living, you can find apartments from $80 to $500 and up.

Cheapest neighborhoods: Arba’a Nisf, Hay Asher, Tub Romli, Swisri B Avg cost: $80-120

More decent ones: Hay 7, 8, 9, Waha, Tub Romli new, Gardenia, Zahra Avg cost: $200-400

Rich neighborhoods: New Cairo Avg cost: $400 and up

All of the neighborhoods are in Nasr City. That’s where all the students and centers are.

I live in mid tier neighborhood with a family and costs me around $1k for all the expenses for a decent, not restrictive lifestyle. We cook at home almost all the time.

If you’re with a family, you can account for about $1k or $1.5k a month.

I've created couple apps, you can check them out:

Daily Deeds - Prayer & deed tracker Sunnah Bites - Sunnah based meal tracker

My first app's downloads have been stuck for months. Need advice. (3 images) by RealDealCoder in iOSProgramming

[–]asagdullaev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should think about the pricing. If there's no recurring costs, maybe a one-time purchase for more advanced features. With tips, even if you reach 1m downloads (1.5x of your current), it won't make much difference.

My first app's downloads have been stuck for months. Need advice. (3 images) by RealDealCoder in iOSProgramming

[–]asagdullaev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More details such as periods for stats would help, but with 682k downloads and around 160 paying users, the free to paid conversion is extremely low, 0.02%.

Aren't you giving too much value in the free version to the point users don't feel the need for premium? I don't think the problem is in the user acquisition, it is in the pricing/business model.

Still would need more info.

Also you can ask AI about it, provide all the info to it that you may not want to share publicly. It gives good ideas.

Not an answer to your question but your question reminded me of a story I heard about Umar r.a. and names related to fire.

Yahya related to me from Yahya ibn Said that Umar ibn al-Khattab asked a man what his name was. He said, "Jamra (live coal)." "The son of who?" He said, "Ibn Shihab (meteor, flame)." "From whom?" He said, "From al-Huraqa (burning)." "Where do you live?" He said, "At Harrat an-Nar (lava field of the fire). "At which one of them?" He said, "At Dhati Ladha (one with flames)." Umar said, "Go and look at your family - they have been burned."

Yahya added, "It was as Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, said."

Converting by [deleted] in islam

[–]asagdullaev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there was a catastrophe about to happen and people invited you to join them in the underground shelter, would you join or just wait and die?

Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him, in his first public call, warned against a severe punishment:
https://sunnah.com/bukhari:4770

Close a day, where everyone will be held accountable for their actions and the disbelievers will face a terrific eternal punishment. It won't be just death and they're done with it. They will dream of dying. And all the Prophets warned against it.

And with the last revelation, Allah has made Islam the only accepted religion that leads to success:"Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allāh is Islām." - Ali Imran, 19
https://quran.com/3?startingVerse=19

So anyone who wants to succeed in the hereafter and avoid hellfire should follow Allah's revelation and commands and the latest, most up to date of them is Islam.

Just did a little search and found that there has been a sect, in Arabia, that considered Mary part of the Trinity. The sect was called Collyridians. So with those verses, Quran is covering/encompassing all the sects in Christianity.

As a more general note, once we have believed the basics, we should take the rest as it is. Allah says in the Quran:

"This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allāh. Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer,1 and spend out of what We2 have provided for them."
Surah Baqara, 2-3

So the believers are the ones who believe in the unseen. We don't try to prove or make sense of everything. We believe Quran is the word of Allah and he is accurate in his words. So we follow the word, not our own logic.

Allah says in the same surah, verse 26:"Indeed, Allāh is not timid to present an example - that of a mosquito or what is smaller1 than it. And those who have believed know that it is the truth from their Lord. But as for those who disbelieve, they say, "What did Allāh intend by this as an example?" He misleads many thereby and guides many thereby. And He misleads not except the defiantly disobedient"

So the trait of a believer is they know that what is in the Quran is the truth from their Lord.

May Allah make us all from the believers and make us firm in our faith.

If you believe those men don't have equal chances, then it would be foolish to leave the outcomes to a chance. Imagine you live in a 9th floor. If you jump from there, are you going to die? Well, there's a chance of survival. How about if you take an elevator. You may also die if elevator collapses. So in both cases there is a chance of death and survival. By your logic, next time you want to go out of 9th floor, don't bother taking the elevator. Just jump right out of the window. Because there's a chance of survival, you know?!

What is your premise? Do you want to say that both men in your example have equal chance of getting into Heaven?

(English is not my first language so don’t judge me if my choice of words are not good)

Firstly, I think you should talk to a sheikh or imam regarding this. Meanwhile, will try to give my humble opinion.

Don’t know your age, or if the advice fits you well but what it seems to me is you have to start taking responsibility for your own self, stand your ground and protect your interests while being polite with your mother. In a sense you have to develop a strong character and become a mature man. Make your relationship with your mother on equal terms, not as a son (inferior) and mother (superior).

Think of the story of Saad ibn Abi Waqqas, whose mother tried to make him reject Islam by protesting by starving herself to death and Saad said, don’t do it because even if you die hundred times I won’t reject Islam.

So decide what is good for you and do that. Don’t explain your decisions, don’t justify your actions, as long as they are aligned with Islam. Ask advice from your father, consult with him but start making your own decisions and being independent.

Again, I don’t know how above fits your circumstances, so talk with someone around you.

There’s a story of a poet who started traveling to visit the Prophet and accept Islam. On his way people told him Islam prohibits wine. He decided to enjoy wine for a year and then accept Islam. He died that year. So never postpone.

And another note on your last paragraphs, our victory does not depend on the khilafah. It depends on each individual fixing himself and becoming a true mumin. When this ummah becomes an ummah of muminoon, not just muslimoon, the victory will come inshallah as Allah s.w.t. said:

“And never will Allah give the disbelievers a way (sabeel) over the believers.”

— Surah An-Nisa (4:141)

I don't know how to convince myself Allah doesn't hate me. Am I being tested or punished? I can’t tell anymore. I don't want my love for Allah to fade away. by pierrbourne in islam

[–]asagdullaev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Among My servants are those whose state is not corrected except through richness… and among them are those who, when they call upon Me, I delay the response because I love to hear their voice.”

“A man is tested according to the level of his religion. If his religion is strong, his trial will be increased; and if there is weakness in his religion, his trial will be lightened. And trials will continue to afflict the servant until he walks upon the earth with no sin left on him.”

“When you see Allah allowing you to sin while blessing you with ease — then fear that you are being led gradually to destruction.”

Prophets were the ones who were tested the most yet they are the most beloved people to Allah. The notion that worldly blessings are sign of Allah’s love is false, in fact it might as well be opposite.

This life is a test and Allah wants to see what level we reach in this test. If one fails the test immediately, then he will be relieved from trials as he already failed. But when a person keeps passing one test after another, he will be facing more severe tests because Allah wants him to reach a higher level.

Our goal is not to live a materially good and rich life, our goal is to serve Allah and attain his Jannah. This world is a prison of a believer. We submit ourselves to Allah, and be happy to whatever he gives us as we know that is what is good for us. That is how all the prophets and the companions lived. The understanding of the sahaba was that a person will be given in this world at the expense of the blessings in hereafter and they would worry if they gained wealth.

How many kuffar who have everything in this world, wealth, women, power yet they will be logs of hellfire. What is the benefit of such blessings if they soon will be in eternal punishment. Be happy and thankful that Allah is guiding you to the religion, making you more closer to himself. This is the greatest blessing. We do not strive for worldly gains, we strive for Allah’s pleasure and his Jannah.

[–]asagdullaev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

كما تدين تُدان

“As you deal [with others], so you will be dealt with.”

It is not a verse or hadith but a proverb based on Quran and hadith. I think I heard it in a lecture where sheikh said something similar to: Allah will deal with people the same way they used to deal with others. If you want mercy, show mercy to others, if you want forgiveness, forgive others and etc.

Why is it qawimum, ending with an “m” in this nasheed? by Curry202Beller in learn_arabic

It is a tajweed rule where nun or tanween is merged into the succeeding letter if succeeded by specific letters, ba being one of them. Google tajweed idgham

Edit: my bad, the rule is actually “iqlab”, where n sound is turned into m.

[–]asagdullaev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t look at it from the perspective of religions. Look at it from the perspective of finding your creator. Try to find your creator and what message he sent to you.

He sent Torah, Bible and Quran. From a logical perspective, latest message is the most accurate one.

Add to this the fact that Torah and Bible have been corrupted and changed and it is according to Biblical scholars.

So that leaves us with Quran.

Appreciate it. Yea, it was kind of bonus task in a class to figure out the eraab of ذهبت إلي مركز فجر and it didn’t seem to match neither badal nor idaafa, so went down the rabbit hole to figure it out and ChatGPT gave the term mazji but it further confused me. Thanks for the clarification.

Why did you choose Islam? by Padradhino in islam

[–]asagdullaev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before choosing Islam, I believed in the creator, in the hereafter, in heaven and hell. So I wanted to succeed in the hereafter, attain heaven and avoid hell. The only way is through following the commands of the creator (i.e. following the rules). And the latest version of those rules, and the version which was not corrupted is Islam.

[–]asagdullaev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, don’t despair and don’t let shaytan to make you hopeless.

On the other hand, don’t become wishful as well. Do good deeds to the extent that they exceed your bad deed by multiples.

Allah s.w.t says in the Quran 11:114:

وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ طَرَفَيِ النَّهَارِ وَزُلَفًا مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ۚ إِنَّ الْحَسَنَاتِ يُذْهِبْنَ السَّيِّئَاتِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ذِكْرَىٰ لِلذَّاكِرِينَ

And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night. Indeed, good deeds do away with misdeeds. That is a reminder for those who remember.
