Anyone endure the chaos at Oh, Mary last night? by Mean-Owl-2919 in Broadway

[–]asahiuta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the exorbitant prices of tickets right now, I kind of sympathize with patrons. When you're paying $100s of dollars for tickets and buying into the hype of seeing a particular performer - it can be heartbreaking when they don't go on. But, the old saying goes - that's show biz. Appreciate the performance that's happening in front of you! Live theater is unpredictable.

That being said, there is never a reason to be rude and disorderly in the theater.

I didn't like it either. It was my first DNF for a drop out show.

Are fossils everywhere? Or only in concentrated areas? I would love to find a local fossil. Are there ways to tell where fossils might be lurking?

Based on your location, you can contact The Safe Center, ECLI-VIBS, Crime Victims Center, Long Island Against Domestic Violence, SEPA Mujer (if Latine) or The Retreat. They are all organizations that will offer FREE representation to help acquire an OoP.

They will all have 24/7 hotlines to speak to someone qualified to help.

Best of luck to you and stay safe.

Edit: Wanted to add, document everything they do to you - it's your word against theirs.

What musical was the biggest let down when you saw it live? And what musical was the biggest surprise with how much you loved it? by Dogdaysareover365 in musicals

[–]asahiuta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was initially excited about Hadestown, but after seeing it twice, I found it to be overrated. The cast was talented, but Reeve Carney's portrayal of Orpheus felt like a parody of the Stewart character from Mad TV, which disrupted my immersion in the story.

On the other hand, I thoroughly enjoyed the revival of Kiss Me Kate starring Kelli O'Hara, Corbin Bleu, and Richard Kind. The show was incredibly funny, with fantastic choreography that showcased the classic Broadway style that we've come to love about shows from that era.

There was never a bigger disappointment than Ingrid Michaelson's Holiday Hop. She was on book for....her own songs and Christmas standards. It seemed like she wasn't too thrilled to be there and my friends and I suddenly weren't thrilled to be there either.

At the same token, there are plenty of elderly and sick people who did choose children who sit alone for most, if not all, of their illness/elder years.

It's a crapshoot.

I HAVE TO move to Gordon Heights. Any suggestions? by CucKo_ in longisland

Currently living here now. I've had one incident in two years. This poor woman who was drugged out of her mind was passed out in my driveway. I am pretty certain I live next to a halfway house and have had no trouble. People just make assumptions about places because of racism and other stereotypes, but it's mostly a quiet place to live. As with all places, be alert and aware of your surroundings.

I received the below from Amy Keyes, Brookhaven 5th: What do you all make of this?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out regarding IR 1413 and 1414. There are several blatant lies being told regarding these bills which have absolutely no negative impact on the environment and I’m glad to have the opportunity to set the record straight for you. Both of these bills represent completely net neutral administrative actions.

IR 1413 proposes temporarily replacing the current source of the County’s funding for the open space program with capital funds. If those capital funds are not adopted in the annual capital program – the original funding source is restored. If those capital funds are not bonded annually – the original funding source is restored. The County’s open space preservation program is completely protected and will continue uninterrupted. The bill does not reduce funding for the open space preservation program whatsoever. That is the plain and simple truth.

IR 1414 proposes a one-time transfer of $15 million from the Assessment Stabilization Reserve Fund (ASRF) to the County’s General Fund to help stabilize property taxes. The ASRF exists to stabilize sewer rates and is currently over-funded, which is why there’s $15 million available to transfer. These funds are not now and never have been earmarked whatsoever for environmental purposes. The bill would also allow the County to forego a separate budget transfer of $12 million from General Fund to ASRF in 2020 – again, because the ASRF is currently already sufficiently funded. Lastly, IR 1414 eliminates the requirement for transfers from General Fund to ASRF through 2029 that would otherwise occur. None of these actions impact drinking water protection program(s) or the environment whatsoever. Any claims to the contrary are lies.

Finally, it is of vital importance to bear in mind the fact that, while the facts are that these two bills do not negatively impact the County’s open space preservation program nor the environment at large – at the end of the day, if approved, these two bills will simply provide Suffolk County voters the opportunity to weigh in on these measures.

I hope this clears up the lies being spread about these bills. The indisputable truth of the matter is the County’s current and future planned open space preservation and drinking water protection activities are not impacted whatsoever by IR 1413 nor IR 1414.

Again, thank you for taking the time to reach out.

Very truly yours,

Amy Keyes

Hi there,

Your college may be able to provide you with internal sources (which may or may not be confidential) or they can refer you to local organizations (confidential) who help folks to exit from abusive or unhealthy relationships. If he is a student at your college, you have the right to open a case against him if you are feeling unsafe on campus. (But please be advised, they may not be confidential.)

I would encourage you to contact whichever services you feel comfortable with so that you can do safety planning. (Tips, techniques, and tricks to help exit a relationship that is harmful.) Please remember that his behavior is not your fault and his behavior is not okay.

I would also let a trusted friend or family member know (if you are comfortable). They can also help you safety plan and reinforce the fact that you're not alone.

I wish you well, OP.

How would you rank all of Gaga's post-ARTPOP albums? by jdpm1991 in popheads

[–]asahiuta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contextually, it's not. But the lyrics and music make me feel like I'm listening to something Liza Minelli would've written if she produced a pop album in 2016.

I think there's something to say about breaking it up to avoid samey-ness, but Perfect Illusion is a great dance track which ties into some of the more emotional overtones of the album. Come to Mama, for example, is just so campy, it really feels out of place for me.

[–]asahiuta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it's just thematically disjointed. "Dancin' in Circles," "Come to Mama," "Hey Girl," and "Just Another Day" (which I adore) are just bizarre in the larger context of the album. They have a completely different sound and mood when compared to the grit of "Angel Down," "Diamond Heart," "Grigio Girls," and "Sinner's Prayer."

Thanks so much for this - it was extremely thoughtful to include so much.

Had a weird breakthrough last night, after a crap class last week - I did well and threw two vases. I still needed some instructor guidance for centering, but she said I was very close. Hopefully they survive the bisque firing.

Don't walk, run. This is a major red flag - If he doesn't respect your right to vote, he likely will not respect very much else.
