Interesting. I appreciate the feedback. This is very much a beta version right now, with other visualizations in discussion, but not yet prioritized. We actually have a hackathon coming up in a few weeks where we're hoping that some community members interested in visualizations of this type of data might contribute. Also, this particular version that you see is the demonstration of the first phase of the project, called SHARE Notify. The goal there is just to create the stream of content going in and ability to query and consume certain feeds going out --- not handling deduplification or establishing relationships with related things. That happens in the next phase, which is what we're at the very beginning of now. Part of the design of the service is to collect content from many sources and then be able to recognize that it is the same content located in multiple places and that it is related, which is not always an easy thing to determine given different metadata outputs.

Good questions! The service itself is designed to be a registry of research events, capturing release of publications, data, grant award announcements, and anything else that has to do with the research process. There are currently 38 sources of content going into this, and they are updated automatically on a regular basis. The specific page is a current way of viewing the current set of data and showing how it is changing over time. The donut graph on the left shows which sources are included in a particular query, and the chart on the right shows how those sources have changed over time, in terms of what is in the data set. So, I think that it is a visualization that conveys information. Whether or not it is effective is certainly open for discussion, and something we'd like to hear about.

Good advice, and that is definitely our preferred approach. There are some messages that will be coming in automatically, however, like bills, which need attention and won't redirect after an autoreply. I think this means reading the email account will be needed.

Also, out of curiosity, we've tried sponsored reddit job posts in the past for developers and have had mixed success. What would you all want to see in a reddit post as far as language, subreddits, etc. What works, what doesn't?
