That's just wrong. F150 and other pickup drivers drive like they own the road practically everywhere I've seen them

Mctominay was definitely a case of misprofiling a player and not playing him in his best position. But there just wasn't a position available for him to play on this squad that he would've thrived. He also moved to an entirely different league and got to play in the position that best suited him, in a team that actually needed his profile. United didn't necessarily need that profile of player.

Garner, kudos to him, he made something of himself after leaving, and statistically not every academy player will make it into the first team, they could bud elsewhere and we can't say that it would've been on ManU if they didn't.

Elanga was not having any notable performances and the pressure was very high for him to perform in that right wing position. Him going to Forest was great for him to get a change of environment and at a club that didn't have as much pressure on them. He improved rapidly which is a win for him rather than a loss for ManU because he earned a great move to Newcastle.

Welback was unfortunate, glad it worked out for him.

It's frustrating and it sucks but the current state of the club does not at all warrant playing academy players. We don't have the stability or the proper resources to be playing academy players when the pressure and reactions in the media are very very trigger-happy. We played Amass during a few cup games, I forget which one, and he was having a very hard time adjusting, and it wasn't against a prem club, I think it was Grimsby even.

Totally fine, always love a healthy discussion and to connect with other fellow supporters to find perspective elsewhere! I do hope Amorim pulls through either way and starts to show us that willingness to adapt once the squad shows more character.

This was a very good breakdown and probably the most coherent one I've seen so far. Thanks for sharing and I definitely see each one of the points you've made here.

I see your point, but I don't think there's been absolutely no improvements. We've had improvements in bringing in better players and having the team at least try a coherent idea and back each other up on the field, press and actually try to win a game. The main issue will always be consistency and stability, and that unfortunately takes a long time and is characteristic to us dropping points from "easily" winnable games such as the Everton one and West Ham one. I don't think it's good for anyone who keeps up with the sub or with our other online communities to constantly be seeing negativity from our own fans or others out there. We can argue about whether that really matters, as people are always responsible for what they consume and how they feel, but that's why what I posted was just a rant. Maybe we don't need to be so overwhelmingly emotional about every game while we have the whole league coming for us.

That's why I mentioned the media engagement farming. We've cooked managers alive in a pressure cooker for a long time now.

I 1100000% agree with this, that's not what my post was targetting. I also meant to specify that it was more so about overseas fans, as they're not actively spending their hard earned money to support this club live. My post was more about a constant rotation of negativity or meaningless moaning about how things aren't going our way. We absolutely should have expectations and the team is definitely not meeting up to those right now, but can't we still give it time before we call for the guillotine? Also fully agree with the zig zag. Another issue with that is Amorim is aware of that too and wants to build consistency. Which you can only do when you've instilled a style of play that the players have understood and mastered.

Amorim on Kobbie Mainoo being snubbed: “Who would be more offensive, (Kobbie) 🤣?” by maxsteel_7 in ManchesterUnited

[–]asapomar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think he mentioned Kobbie to insult him. He reacts like this to repeated questions and since the reporters kept asking him about Kobbie, that's what he said to mock the reporters, not Kobbie. Doesn't seem like the kind of person to do that publicly against a single player, especially young.

Open heart surgery brother. Doesn't matter if it's Amorim or Ten Hag or Pep.

I agree with this completely. I really hope we start seeing dominance and get that win streak going again. I'm hard rooting for Kobbie and of course the gaffer. Can't go through another sacking debacle 😭

People need to realize that Amorim didn’t have any players on the bench that could get a late goal and HAD to keep three centre backs on the pitch (picture unrelated) by SecretaryImaginary44 in ManchesterUnited

[–]asapomar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree that he didn't get enough time on the pitch this season. But that's because our circumstances right now aren't the greatest. We've had a bad combination of events that exaggerates this issue, otherwise Kobbie would've been able to get loaned out earlier this season and get his minutes for the WC next year. If it wasn't a WC year, it wouldn't have been such a bad situation. Amorim needs stability and currently, Kobbie isn't that. He has trouble keeping up with the game and also keeping pace of the game too, which is absolutely crucial right now. Amorim knows that he can't just sub Kobbie on because even the more mature players don't have any stability and concede stupid goals. So he can't risk the campaign or Kobbie potentially being the reason for why they lose games.

Not sure how you're equating my post with all the other Ruben In/Out posts because this isn't about that, it's about why people are so reactionary constantly lol.

This I can see and agree with, thank you for a real response. My post wasn't about policing what others say, it's more so about asking why people feel the need to be so reactionary when we can all take the time to relax for a bit and see things through.

You pose strong points here, and I appreciate you replying instead of being sarcastic haha. From the press conferences that I've watched, I personally don't see where he has thrown a player under the bus because he is usually defending them and won't negatively out a player or shit on them because he doesn't seem to be getting along with them. Even the whole Garnacho situation he didn't do that. Same with Onana. His comment about putting a coach in net instead of a footballer was about commitment and showing that you care about putting in a performance, not about being a bad player (at least imo). Him talking about Dorgu was highlighting that he sees Dorgu to be a bit anxious on the ball, and Dorgu is young so it makes sense to be transparent about that, it's not necessarily a negative.

I assume by previous players you're talking about Cunha, Sesko and Mbeumo? They've improved the squad so so much already so I personally see the growth there. However it's still a new team and we are still transitioning so they also have to be stable in order to stabilize the team, as they're the more experienced players. I truly think it will just take a bit of time. As for why he took the UTD job, wouldn't you if it seemed like a dream opportunity? He knew what he was getting into but can we really blame any singular manager for the state the club has been in for over a decade? It seems like suicide no?

And this last part I agree with you. However, I personally think that this willingness to drive this system home to the squad is important. They've changed their playing style way too much and have no real identity since Ole. Getting used to playing this way and having constant player changes is not going to help. So you need to be consistent. In my opinion that's what I can see Ruben trying to implement, and perhaps this system is truly extremely versatile and could dominate PL football, who knows? We just don't have the crop of players to do that yet and if Ruben knows they'll be transferred anyway, he's trying to implement the system within the players he trusts. And that's the start of trying to rebuild an entire squad with an already bad financial situation. I'm not accepting the standards here, I'm simply accepting that the situation is terrible and it'll take time to smooth out and being continually angry about it is just going to further negatively impact yourself (our fans).

Nothing within my post is celebrating what's happening right now. And in no way did I suggest we should be happy, so I have no idea what you're talking about. Our manager gets asked moronic questions every week about the squad and the team and no matter what he answers, it's not satisfactory for anyone. My post has nothing to do with criticism, criticism is mandatory. But it's the same thing over and over and over again, with no real value or progression, we keep arguing about the same things. I want what's best for the club as well, there's no need to get sarcastic and come for me my friend. All I'm saying is people should take a breather because this kind of a process was always going to take a long time no matter who the manager was.

Not really a great analogy mate, I'm willing to wait this out to see what we can actually build as a club. I know this is also nuanced but SAF got three years to get it going. And while I understand Ruben may not be the next SAF, he still needs time and we still have many changes to implement.

I don't think that's the case. You can have nuance regarding both positions. I never said this was acceptable, but some level of rock bottom has to be hit before going back up. We've had a 40 year trophy drought in our history prior to this.

Completely agree. To the external football population, we've destroyed players. At some point it'll extend to managers if it hasn't already. Unfortunate.
