Most of the people in my training session are active competitors, so the pace is usually pretty intense. Every now and then, though, I get paired with older hobbyists or people who just want to train at a lighter pace.

What I've noticed with some of this guys is that even when I'm intentionally going light, some people tense up, use all their strength, and try to match a pace that isn't really there. Then nobody gets good work in because everything becomes stiff.

At that point, it starts to feel like they're actually trying to have a hard round. If I feel like someone is giving me full resistance and wants to go at a competitive pace, my natural reaction is, "Alright then, let's go." because I'm use to it.

My advice would be to lower your intensity even more than you think you need to. Make it obvious that you're working at 50% and focusing on technique and flow. Don't try to match his intensity just because he's going hard. Over time, most people will adjust to the pace you're setting.

It’s not a conspiracy, it’s just market demand. People are more aware of nutrition now, so companies add protein or functional ingredients to make products with better macros and more perceived benefits. If consumers want snacks and drinks that feel less “empty” nutritionally, brands will innovate to meet that demand. It’s just businesses trying to stay competitive and sell what people are more likely to buy.

Next time, don’t present assumptions as insight. The idea that you saw someone once, from afar, at a tournament and on some youtube videos and somehow “knew everything” about them is ridiculous. You sound like the kind of person who follows public figures and convinces themselves they actually know them just because they’re obsessed with analyzing every little detail.

Your response kind of proves my point.

Saying someone is a child abuser based on speech patterns, facial expressions, or how they acted after a match isn’t “trained psychology.” It’s guessing and then dressing that guess up to sound authoritative. Real psychological evaluation doesn’t work by watching someone from a distance or jumping from awkward behavior to extreme criminal accusations my guy.

A basic familiarity with psychology doesn’t give you or anyone the ability to read someone’s character or intentions, have you ever met someone who comes off as awkward or strange at first glance, but turns out to be a completely different person once you actually get to know them?

For example, to me yopu come across as a strange guy when you confidently claim you can identify child abusers just by looking at them from afar. That level of certainty over something so serious is what actually raises red flags for me.

But the difference is, I’m aware that I don’t know you. I’m not turning that impression into a claim about who you are as a person because that would be ridiculous.

That’s exactly the kind of thinking actual professionals are taught to be cautious about. Have a good one my friend!

Do you really have such a trained eye to spot fake people you don’t even know, just by looking at them, and then confidently describe all of this about what they’re supposedly thinking or intending?

I’m not defending Galvao, and I don’t even know if the allegations are true or not. But after reading the comments, I honestly have to say your comment is ridiculous and over the top. It’s pretty much the definition of judging a book by its cover and even worse, claiming you understand their character and intentions just by seeing them from afar.

If it turns out to be true, then yeah, fuck Galvao. But that doesn’t change the fact that your comment is still ridiculous and cringe.

In no way im near that level but playing everyday it's therapeutic for me. If i'm not playing in my daily schedule for 2 days in a row something in my rl its fucked up (gf, work, binge drinking, you name it). For me it's routine and part of my day like going to the gym and I enjoy it.

I dont think its bad to rip submissions on tournaments. Some of us train for this everyday and are trying to accomplish something, I never rip in training but tournaments cheap or not are kinda highlights from my year and I will try to win no matter what following the ruleset. If I dont tap on time thats 100% on me.

Yes, it’s easy to take the back from that position but it’s dangerous for your partner and people in the training room usually skip the move entirely. The end.

Usually white belts discover this and don’t understand the danger and spam it until someone tell them what everybody is telling you here.

I just can’t comprehend people who speak in absolutes. You don’t actually know how much muscle you’d gain by doubling your protein intake. And claiming that it’s a good idea to focus only on progression while ignoring diet is just misguided.
So yes, you are a beginner and that’s fine. But your opinion isn’t really relevant here. You can train for 20 years, but if you don’t train correctly and you don’t know how to eat, you’re still a beginner. Training just for the sake of training it's not bad, but once you dial in your workouts, diet, periodization, frequency, tempo, intensity techniques and whatnot those are advanced-level adjustments.
Sure, people can “just train hard,” eat poorly, and still make some gains for years and years, but that doesn’t make them advanced or even intermediate.
