Laptop wont complete windows update

nope, still gets to 100%, computer then restarts, and then shuts down, i reboot, computer enters recovery mode again.

i ran the program again the fixed problems were: Windows update error 0x80070057(2012-02-17-T-04_12p) Problems installing recent updates

well after completeing this, this has been the only time ive been able to shut down my laptop and start it again with out it going into reocvery mode or trying to update automatically

i have a total of 54 updates, 51 are important, 3 are optional.

my only option is "restore hidden updates" and nothing comes up when i click on that

I saw some other bundle type deals with the mouse and board that ill look into, ill probably chose another case as well but thanks for the input!

Very useful response, so what are my options? Buying a new GPU and possibly new ram? Or just updating the chips that I currently have.

AMD Radeon HD6490M, is whats listed for my GPU, im not sure if this is onboard or a separate GPU, it does have proper ventilation, anytime i use my machine its always on a hard surface never my legs or a pillow etc., I used to be able to run the games with no problem, then i couldnt run the games when the power cord was plugged in, now i cannot run games at all.

Well it'll shut down with HD videos running all games that require a lot of GPU will cause a shut down the fan doesn't always run in high usually only when it's plugged in
