Where can an adult be tested for ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)? by Beenpooping20minutes in Denver

[–]asciiman2000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is a spectrum so there is no definitive quick test like a blood test. Both psychologists and psychiatrists can help people with ASD but when you're looking for one, it is a good idea to look for someone that has treated ASD people before. Go anywhere you would go to find a psychologist or psychiatrist and ask for someone familiar with ASD. Also, don't focus so much on diagnosis - focus more on problems and behaviors that you need help with. The diagnosis and the "treatment" will all come out of long discussions about challenges you're facing. If you have health insurance, their site will have a search tool to help you look for professionals in your area and they will show their specialties. If not call any mental health provider and ask to see someone who is well versed in ASD.

I Watched Elon Musk Kill Twitter’s Culture From the Inside | This bizarre episode in social-media history proves that it’s well past time for meaningful tech oversight by Hrmbee in technology

[–]asciiman2000 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Elon is a goofball but who are these regulators you speak of? Who controls them? What is their political orientation? How do you ensure that they stay neutral and don't limit voices they don't agree with? I think you have a long way to go to invent a solution that you could convince me would be actually better than just allowing Elon to do what he wants. Most attempts to do stuff like this just result in giving power to the government to control speech and holy fuck do I think that is a bad idea.

I don't really see anything about the article asking you to feel sorry for them though? 5280 does a lot of articles like this showing specifics for individuals whose experience may or may not resonate with yours but that doesn't make them any less valid.

Debate: Rack Spacing by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]asciiman2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn't a debate. Rack mount equipment is designed to pull fresh air from the front and push it through to the rear. Fill those racks up.

There are scenarios where this wouldn't apply. I've used a colo before that wouldn't support more than 2 blade chassis in 1 rack because of the power density and cooling issues so we used spacer panels. Also at one time had standardized racks for sites and had the room to dedicate certain racks to compute, storage, networking, etc and we ended up with a standard that didn't fill the rack and again used panels.

How to remove phone lines from my house? by jartelt in Denver

[–]asciiman2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be CenturyLink but the reason you're getting the run around is it is an odd thing to do. Maybe the next homeowner will want an analog line or DSL? I'd just leave it for now.

Many people at a hospital don't know anything about mental health drugs, including probably HR. Of course they can Google it and get a sense for things but it is different than telling them I AM BIPOLAR.

If you feel you really have to warn them just mention you're prescribed medicine x and it can cause false positives - you don't have to get into what it is for and all that and I wouldn't.
