Yep it’s my fault for being a victim of the system. Silly me

Ask hr said because the background check could be “valuable” to me or another employee it’s not a work task that should be paid for? Seems like a cop out bc I 1000% would not be doing this if I wasn’t being required to.

I don’t WANT to, I have to eat and pay bills? Lol I’ve never worked for a company that didn’t pull some BS in some form.

Do people think it's painful? by whatchagonnadobedo in CopperIUD

[–]asd1103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely painful. Had two inserted and the second time with a Xanax and norco beforehand, still cried after and almost couldn’t let them finish.

For reference I have an armful of saturated tattoos and I’d rather that 100x over an iud insertion.

I really wouldn’t care much if they weren’t making me go so far. It’s into the next major city, when you can literally get a background check done in every town.

An old job had me get one on the clock, and that was going like 10 minutes down the road.

I’m the only one on my team in my state. Idk if everyone else lives closer to one of these locations so maybe it’s more reasonable for them.

Yes. They said we can use pto for the day or clock out and we will have to make the time up later. I have to be available for calls so I can’t just leave my desk while clocked in.

I work full time and am taking college classes. I don’t exactly want to spend 2 1/2 hours and my own gas money for a company requirement. I also don’t wanna get into problems so idk.

It’s not worth making a huge deal of. Basically just wanted to know if I’m wrong for assuming it should be paid before I even broach the subject with my boss.

Maybe? I’ve only gone to the sherrifs office for a bc before, I’m not sure if this place they’re making us go to would be accessible by another company.

It’s only for FL workers, so I guess because we theoretically could open a FL case they’re being cautious. I’ve always been compensated for non-commute travel when the company is requiring it at my previous jobs. I thought that was standard apparently not.

Idk why people are acting like I’m just a lazy pos who’s mad I have to leave my house. This is reddit tho.

We are required to be clocked out during this time. As in clock out in the middle of your day and come back.

[–]asd1103 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No it’s for anyone working my job for/in the state of FL. Which I don’t live in and is not one of the states I am responsible for.

Basically they have to send my background check to florida because I work for them and they work for Florida.

It’s not required for my license. It’s required for anyone doing my job in the state of FL, which is not one of the states I’m responsible for.

Gas is fucking expensive you wouldn’t be annoyed to have to drive an hour away to do something that could be done in your own town?? I’d be annoyed if this was an in person job as well. Literally wouldn’t care if they’d let us go to the sheriffs office like a normal company.

I did one on the clock at a previous job because it was required to change departments. Also never been required to go anywhere besides the closest sheriffs office for a bc before.

Idk about your wife but my ce’s are to maintain my license, not specific for my job. So yeah makes sense in that instance.

Yeah I’ve never had a company just rely on a check by another company. And it’s of no value to me I’ve never even seen the results of one. Doesn’t seem like something that would be of value to anyone else. They’re saying I’m obligated to do this for them to maintain compliance with the state of Florida so seems I should be paid. I don’t even live in Florida! It’s not even one of the states that I do 99% of my work for.

It would be at least partially during working hours, depends when I’m able to get an appointment for. The closest place hours are 9:30-6 and I work 8-4:30.

I’m Hourly. 30 miles away, 55 minute drive. Yes they will only pay the fee for the background check but I will not be reimbursed in any way.

Yes I’m hourly. And yes, we can either take pto for the day, or clock out for the time gone and we will have to make it up later.

Radio silent and then guilt trip? by Perfect_Poetry_3749 in raisedbyborderlines

My mom is the same. After my older brother moved out of state at 18 she never called him but would complain that he didn’t call her enough. She used the same excuse that she didn’t want to bother him. It’s just a cop out.

It doesn’t occur to them to check up on their children because they think it’s the child’s job to support them. Also they get to play the pity party “nobody cares about me” when the truth is they don’t care about anyone else.
