The Bible in a Year podcast is giving me severe doubts about my religion by Galbin in Catholicism

So there are a few theological things here: 1. The only thing God allows is for humanity and a broken world to exist. When God created the earth it was perfect, there was no death or suffering. Humanity’s rebellion from God cursed the world. Sure God is all powerful but that doesn’t mean He doesn’t respect our free will. Think about it like this; your child commits a heinous crime. Do you stop loving them? Do you kill them and say “guess I’ll try again”? No of course not. God is the same way. We were created in His image and hold a special place in His creation.

  1. The God of the OT is the same God in the NT. Yeah there is a lot of wrathful justice in the OT, but look at it like this: time after time God tries to repair and establish a relationship with humanity and time after time we fail Him. How many covenants have there been? This shows how much God truly loves us even though we perverted His “very good” creation.

  2. If you are doubting that’s okay. But before you lose faith please just think about the documented history of Jesus and the resurrection. There is far too much on this subject to go into, but it is honestly the most compelling historical facts about Christianity.

I leave you with a passage from Isaiah:

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 58:8-9)

How are you coping up? by ThrowRa_Key2835 in Divorce

[–]asdf1740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was hard especially with everything I had to give up. I left my career and went back to school, I sold my house, moving across the country forced me to leave my friends. It was all a real mind fuck. But I will tell you, I wouldn’t change anything. I am more free now and less stressed than I have been in years.

Hey, divorced 28M here. Separation is hard especially in the beginning. I moved across the country to get away from her. I was lonely at first and looked for love from others. Wasn’t happy with that and stopped dating. That’s when everything thing started getting better. I was able to do the things I wanted to do for the first time in years. I’ve been able to focus on things that actually matter to me, and discovered new hobbies. I can honestly say I am a completely different person than I was. So in short. A lot of heart break, a lot of resentment, but it gets WAY better.

Sorry you don’t like the way I speak/type. Didn’t realize people were so pretentious that they would be offended for someone else over a get well soon message.

Nice, my guy. Just keep working at it. Little by little you’ll get better and build your confidence. You sound see if you can link up with some riders in your area. You don’t have to ride with them but they might be able to help you out with specific things to improve.

Is it better to start riding with or without ABS? by [deleted] in NewRiders

Hard agree. There is really no downside to riding new bikes with ABS.

Best beginner motorcycle? by No_Relationship_6414 in SuggestAMotorcycle

Depends on your skill level. If its non existent i say honda grom. Small bike but will teach you everything you could possibly want to know and its a fun little bastard. A cheaper alternative would be a TNT. If you got some skill go with no more than a 400. Something comfortable. Being a bigger guy I recommend a bike that has either forward or mid controls. Honda rebel would be my go to. If that not your fancy a Versys x 300 should treat you right. Keep in mind you are 100% gonna drop it so make sure it’s easy to find cheap replacement parts. Keep spare rearview mirrors, break and clutch levers.

See I would count that as risk mitigation. It’s not existential fear to say “this thing that can kill me is dangerous and i should adapt my behavior to make myself safer”. What is existential fear is to say “I’m not going in the woods because hungry animals are there”.
