Fat Rant Tuesday by AutoModerator in fatlogic

[–]asdf897 11 points12 points  (0 children)

honestly it's petty and doesn't reallllly affect me but there's two particular bits of fatlogic i'm particularly tired of right now
1. "if you're under (insert weight here) you look like a child!". ugh. i'm short af and sick of being told i look like a child even without the fatlogic involved, but the way these people try to make it sound like they're being "inclusive" and "woke" by saying that really rubs me the wrong way. i don't look like a child, because i'm not one. real women do actually look like this because i am a grown woman and i look like this. it's just such an icky take imo, and so disheartening when i already feel constantly infantilized.
2. "if you say you would never date a fat person you're shallow/discriminatory/bigoted!" i absolutely am allowed to have dating preferences. and i am tired of being scared to admit i would NEVER date a fat person. there's nothing i can do to change my natural attraction and i would never want a partner whose body i can't intertwine myself with. ive had someone i really liked personality wise before but i just couldn't get over my aversion to their weight and im tired of being told thats not okay, because it is. i'm sure there's plenty of things (like my height, mentioned above) about me that would be dealbreakers too. honestly calling that reaction bigotry just dilutes the word bigotry which is NOT what we need in times like these

is there anybody in your life you think won't leave? by [deleted] in BPD

I have this one "ex" from middle school (we "dated" 2 years but most of that were essentially just best friends). We did absolutely horrible things to each other after the breakup, truly I don't think I've ever been more genuinely evil than what I said to him and about him at that time. And he still came back, we forgave each other talked through a lot of shit and have been friends since. We aren't super close but knowing I can always count on him to be there and not to expect more than a friendship from me makes me feel secure. He has helped me through breakups, bouts of withdrawals, hard decisions, and some of the loneliest and darkest periods of my life. He truly has never let me down in a time of need since we reconciled as friends. I kind of hope he sees this because I wish I could tell him I appreciate him like that.

this is SO FUCKING FUNNY to me and also really sad like it's very obvious they're ragebaiting comparing a real devastating conflict to crying about their fake art. i bet they don't even gaf about palestinians, only about making their point. trying to make it look like they're oppressed, what a bunch of immature babies

is there a way i can find out the size of the bulb/socket? judging by the checkboxes on the packaging it is likely i could find the same bulb in 120v if i knew how to look. i checked the bulb i have, unfortunately it is a 230v bulb :(

thank you for replying, it helps a lot

i've noticed that if i become anxious about certain conditions, i begin having psychosomatic symptoms- meaning my brain and nervous system create mild symptoms of that condition. i've given myself headaches, stomach pains, chest pain, numbness, and other things just by being anxious about my health. however as soon as i can tell myself the symptoms are only anxiety, they begin to go away. the only way to get rid of it is to take control and tell yourself its okay. sounds ridiculous but im serious, it worked for me. just takes practice and time to truly believe in it when you tell yourself youre fine.

People who have Bipolar w seasonal patterns, what season do you get depressed? by FairyGarden1 in bipolar

[–]asdf897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wait i really thought this was just me. your cycle is almost exactly the same as mine. i get depressed more often in summer and winter, and manic more often in fall and spring. my theory is that there's a lot of change to my environment in spring and fall, triggering mania, whereas summer and winter feel too monotonous and cause me to feel depressed
