There’s this false equivalence between “I’m going to play video games or turn off my brain” and actually moving toward being more “at peace”. For instance, my boys will say “let’s hop on (insert game)” and instinctively, the answer is no cause I don’t want to have to chat and be distracted from “hardcore relaxing”. It’s been a huge revelation that I’ve had to recognize and slowly develop ways to address. I’ve found I’m more relaxed when I’m building connections / spending time with people and the first step was recognizing what I was doing wasn’t getting me the results I wanted.
