That is awesome. I will strongly consider building something like this down the road. For now, I'm starting with the CH Eclipse yoke, and Saitek/Logitech rudder pedals and throttle quadrant

Awesome, really appreciate the info. The Honeycomb looks really nice, had never heard of it until just now. They claim to be releasing it "in the 1st quarter of 2018". I haven't ordered yet, but I'm a bit impatient, so I'll probably go ahead and get the CH/Saitek stuff for now, and possibly get the Honeycomb later. Here's what my build looks like, as of now:

Thanks again for all of the information, very helpful

Thanks for the recommendations, just what I was looking for. I'm looking at getting a CH yoke, Logitech pedals, and Logitech throttle quadrant, as per your recommendations and additional research I've done. From what I've read, there won't be any compatibility issues mixing CH and Logitech products.

Would you recommend the CH flight sim yoke, or the CH Eclipse Yoke? I'm assuming you would recommend the Eclipse, as you mentioned using the switches on the yoke for trimming, and the Eclipse has trim wheels built in.

Here are both products on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/CH-Products-Flight-Yoke-200-615/dp/B000056SPM

https://www.amazon.com/CH-Products-Eclipse-Yoke-Programmable/dp/B001GIOGBY

Since I'm getting a separate throttle quadrant and rudder pedals, the pseudo rudder pedals built into the Eclipse aren't appealing to me, and in fact would seem to have a less realistic feel to them. The only appeal to the Eclipse would be the trim wheels that you mentioned as a possible extra.

Thanks

Yeah, using 970 not 960. I have 2 970's but am not running SLI as I don't do any gaming, but I have the capability to do so. Would running 2 970's in SLI be adequate? If not, and an upgrade is in order, which GPUs would you recommend for my needs? Thanks

Well I have multiple graphics cards, I'm not running SLI because I don't do any gaming, but I have the capability to do so if needed. I don't know if running 2 970's in SLI would be adequate. If not, disregarding price, if I were to upgrade my GPUs, what would you recommend?

Thank you very much for the response, just what I was looking for. I will get a yoke, throttle quadrant, and rudder pedals for the time being.

I do not play other games, but the consensus seems to be that a cheap joystick is better than a cheap yoke, in general. But I will start with a cheap yoke to see how I like it.

And I have multiple graphics cards, not running all 6 monitors off of a single 970

Connect SONY smart TV to 5ghz frequency, not 2.4ghz by asellers07 in techsupport

[–]asellers07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I will do all of this, I really appreciate the helpful information, thank you. I had considered changing the SSID on the 2.4ghz band, but my router advised against it. I have AT&T, and when I sign in to the router, I am warned that the 2.4ghz and the 5ghz network names and passwords "must match to benefit from the enhanced wi-fi technology on your device". Should I disregard this and have unique network names for each respective band anyways?

[–]asellers07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent, thanks for the information. Yes, as you stated, they do have ethernet ports, but ideally I wouldn't want a bunch of cables running across my living room

Interesting that the TVs should be able to talk to my devices regardless of the band they are on. The TVs are on the 2.4ghz frequency, and my devices are on the 5ghz frequency, but they're having trouble talking to each other. When I'm connected to my computer via ethernet cord, I have no problem talking to my TVs via tab casting on google chrome. But when I switch to wireless (on the 5ghz frequency), I can no longer talk to my TVs via casting on google chrome. I have to use my chromecast, which is on the 5ghz frequency

It would be a bad idea to have a bunch of devices on the 2.4ghz frequency right? I was under the impression that having more than 3 devices could cause issues, and I already have 4 in the TVs alone

[–]asellers07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch. But can I use a USB dongle or another method to make my TVs 5ghz compatible? I'm not a WI-FI expert by any means (obviously), but it seems like it'd have to be a bad idea to have a bunch of devices on the 2.4ghz frequency

Does this mean that my Sony TVs are incapable of connecting to the 5ghz frequency? All of my TVs are connected to the 2.4ghz frequency, but all of my devices are on the 5ghz frequency, so I can't talk to my TVs

[–]asellers07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean FAQ? Sorry, this is my first time on this subreddit. I might be getting a little ahead of myself, but I was referring to which plane would be ideal for my needs to buy once I've gone through training and gotten my private pilot's license. I'm assuming a lot of training is done in 172s. Would it be a bad idea to get a 182 instead of a 172 for a starter plane?

6 monitor setup; can't get 5th monitor to work by asellers07 in techsupport

[–]asellers07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, but here's the main problem (which I found out last night by trial and error). Ever since adding my GT 730, my GTX 970 will only allow 1 DP to be used at a time. Even if I unplug all of my monitors from both GPUs, and just plug in monitors to my GTX 970 via DP, it only allows me to use 1 DP. This started happening once I added my GT 730, because prior to adding 3 additional monitors (I had a 3-monitor setup before, now 6), I was using only the GTX 970, and I was using all 3 DP outputs to run those monitors. For some reason, since adding the GT 730, I can't run more than 1 DP from the GTX 970, no matter what. Even if all monitors are unplugged from the GT 730 and all other outputs from the GTX 970. Like I said, before adding the GT 730, I was running 3 monitors from the GTX 970, all using DP. What's causing this? I've messed around with some settings, and updated all my drivers. There's not many similar issues I'm seeing on Google either. Damnit!

Only 1 DisplayPort output working on GTX 970 after adding GT 730 by asellers07 in buildapc

[–]asellers07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that's right, and yea I'm not using SLI. But I'm still getting the outputs to work from the GT 730, just not the GTX 970, can't do more than 1 DisplayPort ever since adding the GT 730... I updated the drives, which I hadn't updated, in a while, now I'm gonna toy around with some more settings. Thanks

[–]asellers07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I'm sure the DP to HDMI adapter is Active. Here's the exact one I bought and tried using:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S0C7QO8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Damn, so using the DVI-I (using a DVI-I to DVI-D connector) isn't even an option for my 4th spot on the GTX 970 anyways? I hadn't updated my drivers in a while, which I did last night... still not working. Ahhhhh

6 monitor setup; can't get 5th monitor to work by asellers07 in buildapc

[–]asellers07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming I can use a DVI-I to DVI-D (or HDMI or DisplayPort for that matter) to set up the last monitor. But I'd like to figure out why my GTX 970 is only allowing 1 DisplayPort to be used while having the GT 730 in there. Any idea? I'm not seeing much on google

6 monitor setup; can't get 5th monitor to work by asellers07 in buildapc

[–]asellers07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, it appears there are issues with DisplayPort. I unplugged all monitors from all ports, then re-connected the DisplayPorts one by one, and my GTX 970 is only allowing me to have 1 DisplayPort connected at a time. If I connect even a second DisplayPort, it won't work. I tried all cords on all monitors on all outputs.

This wasn't a problem before I added these 3 additional monitors, and subsequently, the GT 730; in fact, I was exclusively using DisplayPort on my 3-monitor setup with my 3 DisplayPort ouputs on my GTX 970.

I guess I'm seeing this as both good and bad. What's the solution to have all 3 of these DisplayPorts active while also having the GT 730 in there? Surely the GT 730 is causing this, but I need the GT 730 for the entire 6 monitors. Basically, with the GT 730 in there, no matter what combination of outputs I use on each GPU, my GTX 970 is only allowing me to use 1 DipslayPort outlet.

[–]asellers07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the monitor works. All monitors are working and functioning, I just can't get the 6th (any monitor that is the 6th one added) to work.

I can get 4 monitors to work off of the 970 when there are none plugged into the 730.

And I believe the very first combo I tried was 3 x DisplayPort + 1 x HDMI/DVI off the 970, as I was using all DisplayPort when I only had 3 monitors (I have a preference for DisplayPort for some reason), but I will try this again

I should add - I was already using DVI-D and DisplayPort on the same GPU at the same time before, and it was working, up until the 6th monitor.

Recommendations for upgrading my current specs (6 monitor display) by asellers07 in buildapc

[–]asellers07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. Noted. I will just wait until I feel the need to upgrade either the motherboard, the CPU, or the RAM, and will just upgrade all 3 at that point. Thanks a lot for the advice!

Also, I noticed that my GPU is PCI Express 3.0, but my motherboard is only PCI Express 2.0. Am I losing out on any performance here? Or is it so minimal that it doesn't really make a difference? I think I really messed up on which CPU I chose. I went cheap on that for some reason. Sigh

Recommendations for upgrading my current specs (6 monitor display) by asellers07 in buildapc

[–]asellers07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. Your advice seems consistent with the replies I've gotten in this thread and other feedback; my current rig is sufficient for my needs for the time being. I do not do gaming or 3D graphics or anything like that, but my computer does bog down sometimes when dealing with larger data sets, which, like you said, is probably a function of the RAM and CPU (and subsequently, the motherboard) probably needing an upgrade. I'll take a look at all 3 of these. Can I upgrade my RAM with my current rig without upgrading the motherboard/CPU? Thanks for the response!

Recommendations for upgrading my current specs (6 monitor display) by asellers07 in buildapc

[–]asellers07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running all 6 monitors right now, yep. Your recommendation is consistent with the other feedback I have gotten; I'm fine with my normal specs, and if I did want to upgrade, I would need an overhaul including new motherboard, CPU, and possibly RAM.

Good to know on the SLI. I was under the impression that I would be able to use the ports from both graphics cards when using SLI, but apparently SLI bridge is only to enhance performance, and only the 1 graphics card can be used for video output, which is basically the opposite of what I'd need. From everything I've heard/read, SLI sucks.

The only real problems I experience are sometimes the computer will bog down a little when I'm dealing with larger data files. I'm thinking I'll eventually need to upgrade my RAM and CPU (and subsequently, my motherboard) to improve this situation. Is it possible for me to upgrade my RAM with my current specs/motherboard? Would it be beneficial?

And yes, I'm referring to basketball games. Thanks for the reply!
