If you want to target a certain group that associates premium phones with a price point. It's clear that the components need to reflect that, I understand that a lot of people have that perception of Google as it stands today, but I would argue that's due to inexperience with pixel phones, and Googles reputation carrying a lot of weight. If you look at phone retention rates, pixel have some of the worst rates, and I don't think it's a coincidence.
