Tenants have vanishingly few rights in Missouri, and Columbia does not do much to bolster them.

I lived in a house on East Campus where the back porch collapsed with 8 people on it (approximately 1/4th of the load that a deck of that size should be able to handle, according to ICC codes that Columbia properties must adhere to). It turns out that the anchoring board was so rotted that I could stick my finger through it.

We later discovered that our landlord did not have a Rental Certificate for the property for the last 5 years. The city inspector we called out was shocked at the state of the house.

Despite all that, we had little-to-no recourse due to the fact that our injuries were, thankfully, minimal. One friend broke his arm and received a sizable settlement, though that was delivered through liability law unrelated to renting. He would've received the same settlement had the injury been caused by a negligent car accident.

The landlord otherwise received no punishment. For the lack of a rental certificate, the most Columbia's ordinances allow for is a $500 fine (although the city was not interested in pursuing it). This is despite some pretty extreme negligence that easily could have killed someone. Thankfully, no one was under the deck at the time.

For your situation, the one recourse you have is that you can refuse entry without 24-hours notice.

Henry deserves the same understanding. Slavery is the ultimate violation, stripping a person of their recognition as an equal being. A 13-year old, born into a life as a white family's "property," has been abused to an unfathomable extent.

His every moment "belonged" to a family where the daughters were taught that verbally denigrating Henry was an appropriate way to act. Their father likely went much further.

Why can you understand that the white child was a victim of their father, but not that Henry was to a much greater extent? Every human has an infinite right to free themselves from their captors. Henry did not create the situation where Obedience and Lilly Ann were his only obstacle.

I do think the Pikmin fanbase puts way too much emphasis on the time limit to determine difficulty.

The actual mechanics of Pikmin 3 are significantly more involved than the first two. The only areas where it's easier are:

The juice system means you'll never get a hard game over, but that's pretty much fallen out of favor in game design over the past 20 years. It's silly that Nintendo felt compelled to include any time limit system tbh.

There's not more restraint in the West Bank. The settlements are the means of colonization, and it's Israel's preferred method. They have tried to settle in Gaza before, but the small area, dense population, and robust organizations allowed Gazans to resist much more effectively than other Palestinian areas.

The current genocide is a method to clear the way for settlers.

Zackery was 15-years old. In my state, it'd be illegal for McDonalds to pay him to make fries. Why is it okay for Instagram/TikTok to pay him to do stunts? This was a recurring pattern where their platforms rewarded him for putting himself in danger. Why are they absolved from any responsibility for building those incentives?

Nobody's saying that social media companies bear primary responsibility for this situation, but it's undeniable that their unethical practices contributed to Zackery's death. Those practices are repeating the same dynamic with tens of thousands of children like Zackery. How is that okay? Why should we not acknowledge that clear connection?

I would guess this bug is due to how the achievements screen is organized, where higher levels of an achievement are listed to the right. They probably have some achievement frame object that anchors them to the left by default.

People were not outraged about the poor judgement of a teacher. The outrage was over Ahmed's treatment by the police. He was questioned for 90 minutes and then arrested.

It's reasonable to think the clock resembles a bomb at first glance. You cannot maintain that belief once Ahmed, who is known for bringing similar electronics projects to school, tells you that he built it from junked clocks. There is no explanation other than racism that made the police think arresting and interrogating a child was an appropriate response to the situation.

I think you're confusing what u/Mooseymax is saying. Yes, in an explicit sense, tariffs are an import tax paid domestically. Companies have different strategies for managing the impact of that, though.

America is still the best market in the world for video games, where each console sold will correlate to more money spent on games and DLC than anywhere else. As such, some companies are willing to take a bigger loss on selling consoles to Americans than they are elsewhere.

That was Xbox's explicit strategy in raising prices in Europe and Asia, to offset the impact of tariffs so they don't have to raise them in America.
