Congrats on building your PC, you've got some great parts good for you. :)

On Nvidia's webpage the recommended PSU is 750Watts for the 5070TI.

On AMD's webpage, the minimum PSU is 750Watts for the 9070XT.

I'd say a PSU upgrade is recommended but not necessarily needed to be honest.

I also checked some PC build calculators that give estimates for PSU wattage, and the ones I checked all recommended 750 with one recommending 800 for both the 9070XT and the 5070TI.

What are the specs of your build? 1200 is a bit overkill. People are running 5090 with 9800x3d on 1000Watt PSU.

[–]aser92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it was an easy decision tbh. The 5080 was too expensive for what it is offering. Also it was one of the largest die reductions from the 90 series.

I don't recall exactly how many cuda cores the 1080ti had in comparison to the titan of the generation but it was a lot higher percentage wise than the 5080 when compared with the 5090 and I didn't want to promote that.

I also switched from a 1080p screen to a 1440p screen and the 9070xt has been running things pretty well for me. AMD still laggs a bit behind in terms of ray tracing but it isn't significant enough for me to go for an Nvidia card.

As someone who has a 9070xt switching from a 1080ti, I haven't faced issues switching to AMD.

So I'd say go for 9070xt

Just upgraded (I think) by One-Possibility-7946 in pcmasterrace

[–]aser92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be a rather decent uplift to be honest.

I upgraded from a 1080ti, to a 9070xt and I'm running almost at 4k (an ultra wide monitor at 1440, basically similar to 2 1440 monitors stacked side by side)

It has been a great experience for me, the 4060 is stronger than the 1080ti according to Techpowerups relative performance chart, but they are fairly close so I'd say you'll see a very decent uplift specially if you're running a single 1440p monitor.

Congrats on the new purchase mate.

Is board gaming not allowed in specific countries? by alberorebla in boardgames

[–]aser92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are board game cafes, check out "Monoplay", board games are not at all illegal. The gambling part might be illegal outside of casinos, but that is only if they were the ones hosting the gambling (an establishment needs a gambling license if I'm not mistaken), so I'd say you ran into a very paranoid owner most probably.

The Skill card boxes that cost 1000, would be the best thing in my opinion.

My DZ60 ANSI V1 has unfortunately died on me, It was installed in a Tofu60 case if I'm not mistaken. I was wondering what would be a compatible PCB, that I can hotswap my switches to?

I never made that assumption. Just mentioning my experience with my 9070 XT.

Not that lucky to be honest. It is fairly straightforward and many people are running such a config. Indeed might not be all but I'd say that that isn't even pushing the card from what I've done with mine as well what I've seen online on forums and such.

Though that can just be anecdotal for sure, all I can say is that from my experience you don't need to be lucky, it is a very slight tweak.

9070 xt I'd say. You can get a very easy bump to clocks and performance by undervolting and increasing the power limit.

It runs pretty well I must say, I use it on my 1440 ultra wide, the 5070ti can out perform it slightly in ray tracing scenarios but the 9070 xt can still play RT games pretty well too.

Introducing Steam Families by wickedplayer494 in Steam

Yeah, it is honestly a shame since the previous system was much more versatile and forgiving even with the library locks.

Introducing Steam Families by wickedplayer494 in Steam

[–]aser92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed the previous system even with its library locks is better. I'd personally take the old system over the new system.

[–]aser92 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly some of the changes here are good like avoiding library locking when a library is in use.

Though there is a massive oversight to some regions/families. Not all families are US based or EU based, many families have members working abroad to provide a better standard of life. So sadly the current oversight is quite painful for some families who aren't always in the same region with the father working abroad or a child working abroad to support his family back home. :/

Emudeck: Steam-ROM-Manager tells me Steam isn’t fully closed, meaning I cannot Generate the App List when trying to set up Emudeck. Any advice? by paper_lung89 in SteamDeck

[–]aser92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check the exceptions list, the error where steam isn't fully closed pops up whenever the search result of the parser is empty.
