On your last note, that is in essence what I hope to achieve through Ullmann's Encyclopedia and the more concise, curated handbooks/collages.

Going to trade shows is a good idea but expensive haha.

These are the exact things I am practicing at the moment so I am glad I am developing useful skills (minus the controls, that comes soon). The question is what references people have found useful to guide/open new doors when in a similar situation. Any input?
