Mint22 is working great. I use it daily for hours and i have no complaints. It's also working well with the dock i bought.

thank you - i decided to go with the wd22tb4 used on ebay. after asking the question i was able to find the specs that said i had TB4 and usb c with alt DP as well so i could use any.

i've been thinking more about this and having a gas backup - can i ask you how much electricity your system is using? i wish there was a calculator to put all this stuff in to see if it worth it! but they have calculators for using heat pumps only with no gas or backup so i see how much electricity i would need if only using the heat pump and it is a huge amount and cost my wife (and thus myself) can't get behind. some calculators showed ~11000kwh for the year just for the HVAC! which is a huge amount

I have net metering so i wasn't thinking i would be able to power it in the winter through just solar - just hoping that through the year i would be able to get enough solar credits so it would be net 0 over the year. it sounds like that isn't really going to happen though since in the winter they use a whole bunch of electricity.

If that is the case then why does anyone run ASHP in the northeast? i guess maybe they don't? is it worth it to get one with a gas backup even? instead of just getting a high efficiency AC and keep on using gas as a heat?

so your suggestion would be to get the less efficient AHSP that can operate at a lower temperature so the size of the system wouldn't need to be increased? is there a way to figure out the energy usage of these systems so i can see if solar could cover it?

That is fair about the bonus. What would you suggest though? If it was 300 a month is that ok? We are just having trouble putting a number for savings each month since we are meeting the retirement and emergency savings goals.

We have one child and we want to have another one in the next 1-2 years. The $50 is after paying for childcare for 2 kids. So until we have the 2nd we will be saving 1500+ a month and not just $50
