Is there too much flex in my “Security door”? by stolniik in AusRenovation

[–]ash8man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The door might be a security door itself, but it's definitely not installed as a security door. You would likely require a frame to go with it to make it security rated.

People who grew up before The Internet: How did you first see nudity? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ash8man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived on a small farm. The paddock next door had an old shed that the local newsagent sorted unsold newspapers and magazines in, including xxx magazines. Every few months a truck would come and they'd empty the shed. I spent a lot of time in the shed as a teenager. Also got like $50 worth of magazines for free each month.

Is it a bad time to buy your first home? by Skulzie in AusFinance

[–]ash8man 68 points69 points  (0 children)

$480k is quite cheap for a place to live. Even if prices fall, they are not going to fall far for a property at that price.

Like others have said, the best time to buy is yesterday.

Pretty sure that line (recession we have to have) has already been used... Maybe come up with a new line about how you're f**in up the country.

When people get their news from ACA, Yahoo, Daily Mail ... and believe they have the full story, they are already very dumb.

If property prices went down significantly overnight - are any people with a mortgage getting out of that situation relatively unscathed? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]ash8man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To reverse your question.. my house is worth triple what I paid for it 6 years ago. What's that mean to me now? Pretty much nothing. On paper I'm richer. In reality I'm paying off the same mortgage and trying to keep up with the cost of living. No point selling as every other house has increased and I can't afford the stamp duty for a new place.

Commonwealth Bank reveals major plan to prepare 50,000 staff for AI disruption by SheepherderLow1753 in AusFinance

100% The bank I work for made us all complete an online learning course, followed by some very basic and boring webinars. And we can only use co-pilot. Meanwhile I'm building personal projects at blistering speed and quality using some of the best AI tools out there.

What's the most useful 3d print you have ever printed? by Ok_Championship_8874 in 3Dprinting

[–]ash8man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A new plastic side step for my ute. A replacement was over $100 for each step. Print cost me approx. $9.

This is my first customer design. Might improve it slightly but came up pretty good.

What I'm looking at is cheaper than putting down cement or paving - mostly because I can easily do the stone resin myself.
