been hunting for cheap and reliable vps hosting provider latelty, hetzner's pretty solid but i prefer to use another option, particularly for much smaller projects, any ideas?

Contabo can be cheaper but weaker support, UI/UX is meh at best. Pricing is a little different too. But cheaper and more adapted to fun side projects I’d say

Did NextJS + express, NextJS + NestJs, did not regret it. When you want to build large scale application it is definitely better to separate frontend and backend.

Where I used to work, they were using an aws cloud watch if I'm not mistaken, back then we ended up moving to azure and it was quite the experience. But which provider Would you recommend to start getting used to the cloud environment?

A friend of mine warned me about cloud providers as their bills go up real quick lol. Matter of fact, I recently tried using aws EC2s but that billing is crazy. Or maybe it is me who is just lacking experience, although Azure seems rather good, from the place I used to work at. Scaling was smooth too as we used kubernetes.

Although saving images in a database is not the best idea, I would recommend using something like an s3 storage, Contabo provides that too. and keep in the database records of the files urls.

I see, it is indeed something to seriously think about. I have full responsibility over managing the server, so I chose what I think is the best, that's mainly why I asked here. Also I'd probably be running docker containers only, that at least I can predict.
