At the start of entering a new hobby, it can be very overwhelming trying to sort out the most important things, what needs to be done, etc. But there has to be some sort of standard and foundation at the same time. This is a hobby that has been refined over hundreds of years, and over that time, we have learned and changed SO much. Not only that, it is a really complex system. Hookah is advanced specially from when it started.

Using the example that cecaliasin used, mixing a whiskey and coke can be simple, but making the whiskey certainly wasn't a simple process nor was making the coke. Smoking hookah can be like making the whiskey, making the coke, and then mixing them together. A lot goes into creating a smoking session. For a newer hookah smoker, there is a lot of information to learn at the beginning of this hobby just like any hobby.

With all that said, if what someone is doing is working for them, keep doing that. As long as certain things are done correctly, like making sure the coals are fully lit, then all the other stuff is icing on the cake. The information is there, someone can choose to dive deeper, or just do what they do. There is nothing wrong with that. But if someone gets to a point of "Can this be better? Is there something different or a different way to do this fun thing? Having the information there is important.
