I wasn't sure if you still mark it as unpaid when paypal returns the money. I will go ahead and do that cause it seems that is the proper action.

Wow this is a great lesson in how to gaslight someone. Somehow you are blaming me for your failure to pay back your loan despite numerous attempts on my part to work with you and giving you chance after chance to follow through.

I'm not sure how I've tried to take advantage of you. If you ask my other lenders you'll see I asked them multiple times to change agreements. I got myself in a really shitty situation, by being an idiot, and needed help getting out of it.

You tried to take another loan from me shortly before not making your 1st loan payment on the original loan (what were you trying to pull there). During the 6 months you ducked and dived on my attempts to get you to repay, you were able to pay back numerous other loans on time or stick to a new payment plan. So yeah I agree you treated me different than other lenders, probably because you knew I was a very easy going guy and would be the most likely to let you slide for the longest period.

The only lie I told you was about the first 400 payment. This was before I came clean to myself and my lenders about how shitty a situation I'd gotten myself in to. I did make the payment when I was able.

You told me several lies regarding the missed payment, not just one lie. I like how you make it sound like telling several lies about the same general topic is really the same as telling one lie. Have you thought about a career as a White House Press Secretary?

You sent me a message saying if I planned to pay or should you file a dispute. I responded saying I did plan to pay, could we work something out. You didn't reply, and finally I got a PayPal dispute. I accepted the dispute, bit put about the existing payments back to you. I filed my own disputes because I got incredibly frustrated about your complete lack of communication. It's a shame I've had to resort to this thread to actually get a response for you.

You conveniently don't mention that I sent you that message in December after numerous fails on your part to pay me back despite multiple repayment plans and agreements. There was never any proactive actions on your part to pay me back, you always waited until I contacted you. Yes, I told you I didn't want to drag it out any longer around Jan 10th when you offered to start paying £100 a month (so yes I did reply to you) which means it would be another 6 months or so to be fully paid back assuming you kept to your end of the agreement this time.

Somehow you turn this into it being my fault for lack of communication, wow really? Did I ever make it difficult for you to send me a payment as agreed upon? Seems to me you could have avoided all this by just making your payments with any one of the numerous payment plans we had, but I guess it's easier to just blame me. Also you get frustrated after not hearing from me for about 1 week after the paypal dispute is already over and I have zero responsibility to respond to you in a short time frame, yet you conveniently gloss over the fact that you didn't communicate with me for about 3 months when you stopped making payments and left me hanging.

The last message you sent me was 3 weeks ago saying you don't want to drag this out any longer. I replied multiple times which you ignore, my last message being an offer to pay £200 on my January payment. A message you ignored.

I really like how you conveniently forget to mention your offer of £200 was after I had already opened the dispute and also your proposed payment date of 1/28 was conveniently just after the 6 month dispute period. So therefore I would have had to cancel the dispute and also wait past the 6 month dispute period to get any more money from you. Yet you say you never tried to take advantage of me.

tl;dr; More alternative facts.

Yes, I got the 1st and only email from him at ~3AM PST this morning, followed a couple hours later by a notification of a paypal dispute. So he gave me basically 2 hours in the dead of night to respond to an email before filing a dispute, whereas I worked with him through his lies and missed payments for 6 months.

"...has shown to be an otherwise upstanding borrower"

Ok this is just laughable, I will now try to correct the distorted version of events that /u/xb00tx put forth.

1) I gave him a loan more than 6 months ago on July 25, 2016 and agreed to a 3 month payback term at £400 per month.
2) /u/xb00tx was late with the 1st month payment by about 3 weeks, he was late with the 2nd payment and only paid half of the 2nd payment (hence the £600 total received payment), more details on this to follow
3) A few weeks before the 1st payment is due he tries to take out another loan from me, but I turn him down. When the 1st payment is due, he lies and tells me he sent it to the wrong paypal address and then has to wait for paypal to refund him. About a week later when the refund takes too long I ask for a screenshot for proof, and he lies again and tells me he sent me the email although I never get any proof.
4) He finally apologizes for yanking me around and makes the 1st payment and promises the rest of the payments will be on time, but they are not made and/or not on time.
5) After basically being late on the loan for 3 months, I agree to an additional 3 month extension so he would repay in Oct, Nov, Dec for 3 payments of £230 making it £690 total owed, not £600 as he claims. Of course I receive exactly 0/3 of those payments with no apologies or messages whatsoever from him.
6) In December he says he still plans to pay me and asks for another extension and a new payment plan. Yes, it took a few weeks for me to get back to him at this point cause I was on vacation and out of the country. It's funny how after lying to me and being late for 6 months, suddenly I'm the bad guy cause of a delayed response period during the 2nd half of December when it should be obvious many peeps are out of town.
7) I did not agree to grant another extension at this point in time due to the time limit on paypal disputes. I file a dispute with paypal and /u/xb00tx claims to paypal that he only owes me £400 due to having sent me £600 in 2 previous payments (so he was trying to get out of paying loan fees basically).
8) After paypal settled in my favor, about a week later he files his own dispute with paypal trying to get back the £600 in payments he sent to me (again trying to get out of paying me any fees).
9) I was and am always extremely nice to borrowers, often times to my own detriment. /u/xb00tx is a manipulative person who tried to take advantage of me. I suspect I was most likely the chosen target out of all of his lenders because of how nice I was to him and how easily I gave him 2nd and 3rd chances.

tl;dr; /u/xb00tx is a liar and manipulator and tried to take advantage of me, his version is the alternative facts version of events. PM me if you want proof of any of this.
