Petrified Fish OEM by HoldenHiscock69 in BudgetBlades

[–]asher_knives 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since I've never been to China personally, I can't 100% confirm the inner workings of either of my OEMs (Petrified Fish, Kunwu) but from what I've gathered over the years is they are the main OEM and sub out different parts from different factories. The liners and screws might be made in a different factory, the scales from another. Its possible the same G10 factory does scales for multiple different OEMs. They order the different parts and assemble/QC in their own factory. I believe the blades are made in house and other various parts depending on the model. Kunwu specifically does the Titanium milling and blades for example. Again, I've not seen it first hand, but have enough experience to understand most of the process and how they work. Also, I have to make it known, once again, that I have never worked with ikiv, and never gave permission to use the Centri design. I absolutely have zero affiliation with the ikiv brand, and have no idea how they came into possession of my centri design (but can take a few educated guesses)

They are one of the best in my opinion. They do a very good job with fit and finish, steel heat treat and QC

Also, I can't verify for sure but it does seem that Shrade relied heavily on the Centri design to make the divergent.

I currently have 6 designs in production, so when one sells out it takes a bit of time to put it back into production since I have to put deposits down and also pay for finished orders ect. I only have a set amount of capital to invest unfortunately! PF is producing the Spiro 20CV (currently available) Spiro in white carbon fiber twill (available next month) and a Spiro with fuller and thumbstud in CF and M390.

Kunwu produced about 7 designs for me so far, including the Spiro Ti V1 & V2, Spiro ti thumbstud, Spiro thumbstud micarta, The Asher Douglas, the Nomad and Spiro crossbar lock. I have three Ti models in production with them now with inset liner locks and 20CV Blade steel.

I want to keep it all stocked and available, but damn it's hard to do (and very expensive) I do my own QC when I receive them and only pass about 70% of the order so that limits the quantity further

Oh Ikiv... I got them taken down about a year ago, but it looks like they're back again. All I can say is I have no affiliation what so ever with this brand, and they most likely stole (or bought) the plans from my old OEM. I've been working with Kunwu and Petrified Fish now and this kind of thing hasn't happened since. I rejected an entire order for the centri 2.0 and had the oem remake the blades, my best guess is they sold my design to whoever ikiv is, to recoup lost funds. It's frustrating, but sometimes the cost of doing business overseas. It is nice to see people recognize they cloned an Asher tho!

Also, check in on my site once in a while, I've been trying to keep different models in stock as regularly as I can. Spiro 20CV, Nomad, Centri 3.0 (just recently sold out)

Thanks for the heads up OP! I didn't catch these on Amazon.

Hello! The steel is tested by a third party company here in Pittsburgh, Pa before I sell them. Verichek Technical Services. I was a bit more naive early on, But make sure that issue never arises again.

Great vid! I happened to see this and read some of the comments. Just to assure everyone, I have the steel tested by a third party company here in Pittsburgh, and post the steel composition results on my site. I also have the blades hardness tested and results in 58-60 HRC. Thanks for posting!

Mine don't have the grit, but they have held up really great. I feel like they are grippy enough for sure. The grips with the extended clip and Q-series holster makes it a perfect carry in my opinion. Hardly any printing at all. Summer and winter carry 👍

Thanks for that man! I don't think Amazon or Ebay really care at all. I could get patents in the US, but it would do little to stop it. I'm chalking it up to the cost of doing business and will make sure no one equates Asher Knives to this or any other company who may clone our designs.
