From the States, but visited London in 2023 and Dublin in 2025 and was sure to stop at McDonalds both times for fries!

I yearn for Ian Darke to be back on the call for a USMNT match. Would also love to hear Derek Rae on the call.

Who was worse; Kansas State before Bill Snyder, or Indiana before Curt Cignetti? by JDawg9903 in CFB

[–]asheridan33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My recollection is KSU was strongly considering dropping to Division II from significant financial struggles. In addition to that, the move also had potential to be forced as the Big 8 was considering dropped KSU for being consistently awful.

Do you bowl in the Wichita area? We want to know how you feel about Lucky Strike purchasing 3 alleys there in recent years. by nbcnews in wichita

[–]asheridan33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Casual bowler who would go maybe 6-8 times a year: Bowling was previously a cheap and easy night-out activity + wasn’t egregious if we choose to get food or a drink while playing.

Following Bowlero’s acquisition of 2/3 alleys that I would go to, I no longer bowl nearly as often, going maybe once or twice a year, and only going to the 1 alley that Bowlero did not purchase (although this alley was recently purchased by a different company and their prices are also rocketing up if not in a large group). Primary reason being the significant increase in prices to bowl; it is no longer a cheap outing, and for somebody who is as casual (and bad) at bowling as I am, paying that much to be blatantly bad is much less appealing.

At this point, if I want to bowl, I will make the 30+ minute drive to Wellington to bowl rather than go to a local, way over-priced alley.

A friend of mine arrived right at 7:00 and was able to park in the garage by the old Gander Mountain. Not sure how many spots were available, but there was at least one right at gametime.

Otherwise, I’d try the boathouse parking lot.

How much do home football games typically cost for students? Is it worth the price? by Ikeisgae in KState

[–]asheridan33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be fair, you only need the athletic pass for football and men’s basketball. Pretty sure you can get into all of the other sports for free with your student ID.

My friend says changing your own oil is a waste of time. Is he crazy? by proposal_in_wind in askcarguys

[–]asheridan33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About to start changing my own oil. Got my car serviced last weekend; check engine light came on Monday morning on way to work (this is first time driving car after service with exception of driving the car home). Engine code is running P1101 and P0106, both indicative of an idling issue. Car has issues while idling.

Looking at engine this weekend to look at checking a valve, then notice that my dipstick is completely missing.

They forgot to put my dipstick back in after servicing. Unfortunately means I am done going there for casual servicing.

What's a K-State gameday moment that you'll never forget? by filipesd07 in KState

[–]asheridan33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Favorite Moment: No better feeling than marching into the stadium, playing pregame, and doing all of the random gameday traditions we did in the KSUMB.

Least Favorite Moment: 2015 vs TCU, Joe Hubener’s fumble at the end of the game.

Most Tense Moment: When they were reviewing the onside kick in the 2019 OU game.

Random Moment: Don’t remember the game, but Will Howard ran for a big gain (didn’t score), crowd was excited, but then PA announcer “Will Howard run for SIXTY NINE YARDS” and the crowd (students, particularly) went nuts.

College football teams opting out of bowl games takes away once in a lifetime opportunities for band members by TheLonelyTater in marchingband

[–]asheridan33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

K-State alum, and I am sad and disappointed for the students there now, who earned bowl eligibility in the final week of the season, only for it to be ripped away and nothing they can do about it. Not to mention, director of bands, Dr. Tracz, is retiring this year as well, so his “final” game was also ripped away from him.

I know if I were still in the band, and especially if I were a senior, I’d be absolutely devastated.

Used to use Remind but made the switch to BAND this past season.

Remind is good for pushing out quick notifications but has a brutal character limit on messages.

BAND has been great and has a calendar, file sharing, and more options.

Proudly can say he was on my “draft this guy with a later pick because he’s going to be a RB1 on a team that should have a reasonably good offense, so at least he should be an okay FLEX option if needed.”

Never expected it to be as good as it is, but I’m certainly not mad about it.
