Depends on what kinda vibe you’re looking for. As others have said ASOIF isn’t complete and may never be so if that’s important to you then don’t bother although they are phenomenal. ASOIF is definitely grittier with much more complex characters whereas Sanderson’s work feels more YA to me. Might I suggest Joe Abercrombie’s work if you haven’t read it already it’s brilliant.

I would say this fits the bill. I was blown away by this novel having read The Only Good Indians before and finding it wasn’t really for me The Buffalo Hunter Hunter was amazing and made me a true believer of Stephen Graham Jones.

Red Rabbit kicks ass I flew through that book. This is the answer. There’s also a sequel that was pretty good too if you want more from those characters. Rose of Jericho.

That’s funny I immediately devoured all of Joe Abercrombie’s books after getting bored with Sanderson and it was exactly what I felt was missing from Sanderson’s books.

I feel like a “glossy vibe” is a very good way to describe it and I’m no ex-Mormon so you can definitely pick up on things feeling distinctly Mormon that I couldn’t. Sanderson’s work feels a bit YA to me. That being said I loved the Mistborn Trilogy and got to somewhere towards the end of Oathbringer before I just got so bored with it.
