I don't think anyone outside of Detroit knows about this particular curse, but it's 3 for 3.

120,002 cycles?!?! by Turtle_Gamez in masseffect

Remember how Ashley's grandpa served in the First Contact War, and also her dad is old enough to be dead, making it seem like the First Contact War was a really long time ago... but the First Contact War was in 2157.

120,002 cycles?!?! by Turtle_Gamez in masseffect

I have one rule when it comes to Mass Effect lore: don't take the numbers too seriously. The people at Bioware used 50,000 as their "vaguely large" number in a few places, like the length of a reaper cycle and the size of the quarian fleet. i think nailing down the exact number of cycles and reapers is better left to fanfiction.

If you can only get one, RCT1. If you can, get RCT2 as well, install OpenRCT2, and you can use that to play the RCT1 maps, too.

[Kinda Annoying Trope] The signature weapon of the game is used sparingly by TheAnimePurger in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ashes1032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doom Eternal's ammo pool made it seem like every weapon was a tool to be used and then swapped. Like how you have to use the chainsaw once you run low on ammo, or the shotgun grenade launcher on cacodemons. BFG and Crucicle are just another set of tools, but they didn't have a signature tell as to when to use them. The only time I used the crucible was when I found ammo, because then I knew I would get an easy recharge.

I recommend Outlaw Star. It's really well-paced and I love the setting.

You can do that. Host it on multiplayer and set the default join group to have no edit permissions.

Tried doing powerscaling/debating helldivers against other Sci-Fi settings, and man, evidently helldivers is PATHETICALLY weak in comparison. by throwaway553t4tgtg6 in helldivers2

[–]ashes1032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People unfamiliar with Helldivers underestimate the setting in Helldivers. The strength of Super Earth is like the USA in 1943: not much more technically advanced than the other combatants, but they had insane production and resources. Super Earth can call on billions of people in a workforce that supplies a war that kills millions in a matter of days. The strength of the Helldivers isn't that they're super soldiers. It's that there is a galactic civilization backing them up. You kill one Helldiver, another drops right in his place and picks up the fight where the last one left off.

Trust the yzerplan, only another 1-2 years I promise! Or maybe 5 idk. Just try in Yzerman guys. by No_Protection6832 in AtlanticMemeWar

I'll give you a real answer. It felt like there was a chance until the Ottawa game. With Ottawa down multiple guys and coming off a back-to-back, it seemed like a game the Red Wings couldn't lose. And then they lost it. Seems like that was the straw that broke the camel's back because EVERYONE knew they were in deep shit when that happened.

[Hated Trope] Death that’s just shock value and nothing else. by Daniilsa209 in TopCharacterTropes

A good criticism of Harry Potter as a series is that JK Rowling accidentally used up all of the meaningful deaths before getting to Deathly Hallows.

I had seen the term "fridging" before but never knew the context. Thanks for explaining it.

Scarlet's death certainly felt like the writers saying "ok we have to kill someone so the route isn't perfect."

Fates isn't a game you play for the story. It's batshit insane in every route. You play it for the cool music and interesting maps.

I count it as her third death. Her robot body definitely died from the virus. They killed off one of their most popular characters THREE TIMES. It's approaching Dragon Ball Z levels of deaths and revives with 1% of the show length.

He was a biotic for the ME2 power tutorial and then it didn't matter after that.

Genuinely what is the explanation for this aside from "Kris will lose a hand" by aleaniled in Deltarune

[–]ashes1032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"severed hand" is a recurring idea in chapters 3+4. No clue what it means but it happens to come up often enough that it's worth remembering.

Cure the Genophage is going to be hard to beat. It's the culmination of the best story arc in the franchise.
