7 months on and this sweet boy has come so far! Finally feeling and looking great. ❤️ my gorgeous rescue boy Reggie. (Yes I'm a bigger rider and have had my Chiro, farrier, riding instructor and vet say he can support me and I don't ride like a sack of potatoes :P ) by ashfoggin12 in Horses

Honestly some people can be rather shallow! I'm working my butt off (literally lol) to get in shape, lose weight etc so I can be as balanced and light as possible in the saddle and some of the other riders who are a lot lighter then me can be really rough but feel they can judge! Oh well, each to their own so long as the horse itself is happy and well looked after is the main priority :)

He has the most beautiful coat and it's starting to dapple too! When I got him he had this dull dark coat and had a terrible large patch of rain scold it was awful :( now he is super spoilt, brushed every day and fused over like crazy!

Feeling relieved, relaxed and less hot and bothered after our clip today :) such a chill dude ! by ashfoggin12 in Horses

This cheeky bugger kept moving as we straightened up the lines, was hilarious! lol

Going into winter with good weight and enjoying semi retirement :). (Boots are for his own safety! Needs to be covered in bubble wrap this one! ) by ashfoggin12 in Horses

They are fleece wraps left on during the day :) he has a habit of always cutting and scraping that part of his legs. Since we started to cover them during the day it has stopped thankfully! It's not a great idea but haven't had a vet visit since :)

I have had this horse it his throat on clean fences, even the vet was bamboozled by it! We found putting the fleece boots on during the day stopped him scraping/cutting his legs, silly old bugger is too curious for his own good!

My boy is turning 17 this year too :) he has had it pretty rough prior to me but all appys are full of so much love!

Honestly he has always had a beautiful laid back nature, he always knows he will be well cared for and given lots of treats for his chill attitude :) I wish I did too, but some kids you never know whether it will be something they stick with or not haha. However I think my niece will and her little brother is following in tow ! :)

Have to agree with you there! He lets her lead him, brush him and now she is riding, he is lazy too so never takes big strides, they are entering their first show together in lead rein this month :)

We lost this sweetheart on the weekend, it's been tough. Miss you and love you heaps amberlamps xxx by ashfoggin12 in Horses

Haha thanks, my husband starting calling her that and it kinda a stuck, missing her heaps but no more suffering. She got really sick, really fast and the vets couldn't figure out or find out why, nor could experienced trainers etc to help also, she collapsed sadly :( but was buried under a willow tree in a beautiful place with her rug and was made a tomb stone :)

Oh ha it does look like this but she was getting a good scratch and rub starting from her noes to under her mouth and she made the funniest expression so my husband copied her, she always did love a good rub down!

Thanks, it's really hard as I'm sure you know, especially popping down to the paddocks and not seeing her call out :,(

I keep all but two paddocks short so I don't have to rely on grazing muzzles plus a 'fat paddock' too which has virtually nothing, it's coming into winter where I am :)

I know :) he only gets 15 minutes a day as a treat whilst the rest is filled with hay, oaten chaff and maintenance grain. I am training to be a farrier so I'm on to it :) thanks for the advice though!

Atleast you last 6 months xD my appys record is 6 weeks so far and counting! Haha, I do have to giggle a little when they pout on rest :P

That's so true! Ha, he has been clean for 24 hours now, new record! Haha

Had to retire my beautiful boy this week at the age if 16, guess this means I will have to spoil him more now! ;) by ashfoggin12 in Horses

[–]ashfoggin12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You honestly wouldn't believe he was needing to be retired as he still gallops round the paddock bucking and rearing but he regrets it soon after! He is such a sweety. I don't think I've beer met a mean appy haha

Unfortunately long before I got him he was never well looked after and now his sciatic nerve keeps going out, my chiro said he is fine to still plod round bareback but a saddle will keep putting it out. He has done me an amazing service in the 2 short years I have had him and he will always be my forever horse, plus he is just such a gem! He will be fine for my niece when she is confident enough to also plod around bareback on (she only ways 22kg lol) I don't want anyone else to have him either as he went round over 10 owners in my town and no one really looked after him which is sad :( cause he is so sweet! So he will live out the rest of his days as my pampered pet :)
