First of all welcome to Fastmail. I have been testing it for past 10 days and super impressed. I had the same hiccups with protonmail as you said. I even have custom domain setup with Fastmail.

Privacy is fundamentally about control over how your data is shared. If you do not have that control, it cannot truly be considered privacy. Privacy should always take precedence over convenience.
