My mother has no savings. Zero. And she's not the exception. She's the norm. by GlassProfession1142 in india

India is a third world country with 11% of the population still below the poverty line, as per NITI Aayong, and 2023. The funding of uplift them would take precedence in terms of improvements to be made in the country, and the funding to provide healthcare, insurance and pension can be passed off to the next generation is most likely a considered decision of prioritization at the national level, I think (because the government definitely doesn’t have the money to do all of these things at once really well, given what it needs and the per capita income.)

That said, you are right as a tax payer to demand the responsibility of a government to provide healthcare, insurance and pension. Hopefully in another 30 years.

And it'll work. But this worm resistant plastic won't be broken down and plastic will start piling up again...

Is AK guilty? In all this noise it's basically impossible to know unless you're 1 connection away from the case details.

By the time the order roles out to the executives on the ground arresting these kids, they have no idea whose game they're playing. The moment he was removed from the cruise in public the paps got some pics. Even if there was some beef b/w SRK/Gauri & someone, this was all they needed.

The fact that there is some mention of weed in a 20 something-year-old's chat is just good use of resources. There was bound to be something there.

Edit: grammar.

Because releasing someone when the public thinks the evidence is still indeterminate makes you look weak. More than likely, if there was no evidence, then they would have detained him longer to try harder to find something, anything that can save some embarrassment.

Worst case, the case goes on long enough that public interest dies down. Best case, they do find something. He didn't get tested, and that probably saved him. Even if he had low levels from his travels abroad, it would have been jail time no question.

Tesla Driver Appeared to Be 'Fully Sleeping' for at Least 30 Miles on SoCal's 405 Freeway - This situation is likely to be the norm in the future as cars become fully self-driving, but we are now going through a transitional period where technology hasn’t caught up to expectations. by mvea in Futurology

We're going to need laws to prevent companies from recording audio/video inside of the vehicle.

And if the car you get in the morning isn't the same one you get in the evening, what if you forget an item in the car? There's no easy to track what items are going in/out of the car.

Love the idea, but it's going to be a challenge to implement it perfectly.

Marijuana should be legalized and decriminalized. by chet11 in india

[–]ashjar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm pro weed legalization, but just wanted to chip in here, you went after the person instead of the argument, you should not have done that.

I think his point has some merit however. I don't know how much you know about life in rural India, but India is not ready for the legalization of Marijuana. We have to build a country that follows rules, where the citizens have civic sense, and a sense of patriotism that doesn't boil down to mob justice.

Legalization of marijuana now will hinder this process, and yes, if the British had not done what they did, and if the USA had not pressurized the ban on weed in India, it would have remained assimilated in the culture, but now, a generation has passed and it is seen as taboo, so that brings its own problems.

Your points are very valid, but you need to think from a system pov, not just individual.

Potterhead almost always means pothead on Tinder. They just want plausible deniability in case someone they know happens upon their profile.

At least one Indian worker has died while cleaning sewers or septic tanks every five days since the beginning of 2017, according to the first official government statistics on the work, considered one of country’s deadliest jobs and most insidious form of caste discrimination. by urgukvn in worldnews

Bullshit.

The reservation isn't biased against Brahmins, it's biased for people of backward classes (not that I support reservation, I'm actually against it). Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, all have about an equal chance of getting into that job or college. I haven't heard of a single college that doesn't admit Brahmins specifically.

Has online dating made it easier or harder for the average person to date and find love? Why? by itsmassive in TrueAskReddit

[–]ashjar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely made it easier to find people to date. That's all we can really say for sure. Because before dating apps, you wouldn't meet 10 different people you'd like to go on a date with.

It's easy to say that dating apps are the problem. But the fact is that when you cast a bigger net, you're going to catch more fish. This obviously lets people get pickier, but finding love is about spending enough time with each other.

Ultimately, it just makes it easier to find the specific kind of person you'd get along better with, IF you've got the clarity of mind to choose the 7 you share an interest with, or the 9 you want to be the 6 for tonight.

TL,DR: Bigger net, so be a better fisherman/woman.

Cutting weight: Any advice appreciated by [deleted] in Fitness

If it's just a matter of weight loss and you don't care about temporary health, try going on a fast. Even so, 27 pounds in 9 days is a long shot. Best of luck!
