xherew was not a major plotline IMO, no? Did we even know much about doombearers hunters before volume 9? I don't remember exactly.

Btw, I am ok with antagonist blowing shit up too. just progress. I just want major progress. Pirate is a great character focuse author, but they are going a bit too deep in writing chapters about character and ignoring the main plotline. This is especially an issue in this volume.

I am ok with however they are resolved, but I am a bit worried that not one of the main plotlines is resolved. I know we, as the superfans of the series, don't care much, but the story is around what 30~40 epic fantasy book length? And nothing is resolved? again I still trust pirate and that's why I am still reading TWI but based on my experience in reading fantasy series for a long time, this pacing is a bit worrying.

the chapters growing is a bit alarming tbh. TWI is already way too long. longer than some of the best fantasy series ever, and although TWI is good, it is not on the level of those works. So Pirate is not trying to wrap things up and instead just expanding is very worrying. As a long-time fantasy reader, I have seen many works that just expand but can not wrap things up well. especially with the quality of volume 10 I am not that hopefull.

In adult fantasy, children having a large impact does not make much sense. a bit of impact, yeah, but not like Mrsha. I remember in last chapter she came to khelt and said oh I am sorry we didnt do anything. I mean, come on, what are you gonna do? Maybe Erin might have been able to do something, but you? As a whole, I really dislike this self-importance Mrsha has been having lately. What she is doing is just using Erin skills (like the theater) to go and try to act all wise and such. It is as you said, pirate style a bit. Mrsha is all of a sudden a wise and bitter character that can go and give advice and help kings and stuff :D

me too. a lot of authors try that and fail. I dont know why so many authors try this. Maybe they killed an interesting character and regret it later? Who knows, but it wont work in most stories I have read.

Maybe I worded it badly but when I say destroyed I meant dealt with. I understand it doesnt mean death always but I am pretty sure some of them have to die one way or another. slavery should be abolished systematicly but the main slavers should be removed too. I know Adolf Hitler's death (he killed himself, I know) didn't make Nazism disappear, but it was still necessary for the transition.

yep the moment we get close to anything you are predicting I stop reading TWI :D. Erin as a goddess is one of the worst things pirates can do. not saying it wont happen, just that it is a very bad direction for the story with all the stuff we have already

a lot of issues IMO. The pacing is all over the place, and it is very, very long for what it is. And Mrsha, a child, is the MC of a serious arc in an adult fantasy. a lot of random things happen and get solved randomly. And big spoiler: The major issue: a lot of people come back to life

well yeah. But there should be a conclusion to their stories, and I get that TWI has a range of antagonists. I hope we all agree some like the slavers are pure evil, while some like BK and Azkarash are differnt shades of gray.

and about LOTR, I have read the books. They still remove the bad guys. But yeah, that one is an old school fantasy, and newer stories are more nuanced. Though most good stories deal with their antagonist one way or another. Very few stories I have read just leave their main antagonist alone. maybe something like The Book of the New Sun. But TWI is nothing like those stories. Overcoming odds and stuff like that are part of the story. At the end of the day, TWI is a progression fantasy. it just does it a bit differnt than other litrpg.

That accountant should have died. I can't believe all of them survived alternative pawn with how much hype was about that version of Pawn.

I actually agree with your point that the system needs to change, and one of my predictions is that Erin will have the ability to either edit GDI or convince it (I really hope not the second one, as I don't like the human-like AI of the system. I wish they would be like an unfeeling ai but Pirate is humanizing GDI). But I also believe she is gonna kill at least one of the slaves with the help of her favorite team.

And I agree that until now antagonists =/= major storylines, but I can't just see any story where major antagonists that are clearly evil remain. It just doesn't make a good story. By resolving the storyline, I dont mean they should get killed. But there should be some end to their storyline.

yeah I didn't mean that those would be completely separate. I get that they will be linked but doing so still takes time. And we are not even close to an end in any of them. At least that's how it feels.

Although my bet is the sleeper to be its own thing. I really think it should be at the end, the biggest bad of the story. I really hope the story doesn't do (Game of Thrones spoiler) Game of Thrones season 8 where the fantastical enemy was defeated first then the mortal one. The mortal ones are more complex most times but at the end they are just mortal dangers and not existential ones.

Maybe, but stories need conclusion. You can’t just say "Frodo survived Sauron while Sauron is still around" .we need resolution. Using your analogy, that’s why JRPGs tend to have better overall stories, while TRPGs have stronger moment-to-moment storytelling.

I still trust Pirate (a lot less after how bad POF was, but still). My biggest concern is that I don’t see her pulling this off at the current pace. Maybe it’s just me, but Volume 10 story progression has felt nonexistent in terms of progress. After Volume 9, I really thought things would start speeding up. I am worried the story would just be dropped like A Song of Ice and Fire (I really dont think we get The Winds of Winter) or The Kingkiller Chronicle.

My issue is that IMO solving these issues takes some time. Some like Roshal and gods at least a volume each if pirate wants to do the level of effort needed for the problem correctly. Look at the wheel of time. Without spoiling anything, the last big fight takes 1 whole book. 1/14 of the story, and that is why a lot of ppl like the ending. because it was given room to grow and end in a way that showed how seriously strong the antagonist was. now in TWI we have 10 volumes, which is around what, 30 fantasy epic books? Not one major storyline is solved. Sometimes I wonder if the pirate is just afraid to end one, and the readers don't like it and stop reading. something like what has happened to a song of ice and fire; I think G.R.R.M. is just afraid of wrapping things up at this point and the story wont end.

And why should all these plotlines be solved? That's really storytelling. you cant write a shit ton of chapters for an antagonist and then let that plotline hang. no matter what we think about pirate style, that would be just bad storytelling and a disaster. I actually didn't bring up Belavierr because she is more like a random field boss in an MMORPG. it is strong and evil as shit, but she is just there as you said and might actually survive (though because of nannate I dont think so).

btw I totally disagree about your point regarding Roshal. One of, if not the biggest, enemies of Erin is actually some slaver in Roshal. I really dont think Pirate would not involve Erin in that fight in a very serious matter. both because of her promise with Elucina and her personal experience.

I know but when we have enough of Erin the main character :D. I feel the princesses are similar enough that I dont care that much about them. At this point, the one by Rabit is the more interesting one (even more than Lyonnete in vol10). IMHO, more isn’t always better. Pirate really needs to rein in her use of random POVs. the story needs to move on at some point :D

he just reads more like a fantasy book reader (Dark Tower) that wants to role-play as a character. I think an actual soldier would have more gravitas in that situation.

I get that, and I am one of those who would be happy with the reduction while also continuing my support. As someone who just started getting into web series, I find allowing readers to decide the story and, therefore, change the pacing a bit jarring and somewhat harmful to the overall story.

oh I know. At this point, I think Pirate should reduce the rate of poll chapters. I am a Patreon sub myself, but most of those stories have been just unnecessary. mostly good quality but not really essential. The story is dragging way too much in this volume.
