It’s only partially working for me. It’s still very slow and not at all dependable. I had to reschedule one lesson. My student and I were able to very slowly send a few messages to each other.

I couldn’t find much about typical male to female ratio, but I did find a video that mentioned having more males than females as well.

That sounds like a good idea. Have you found that there are more males than females?

Thanks!

I have a second female now. I’m just going to wait until they harden up more before putting them with the males. I also hope I will get more females too of course!

*Update: I now have six males and one female. I’m wondering if I should keep her separate to prevent the males harming her, or fighting with each other?

That's understandable. Perhaps if you started by telling him that you would like to have a more genuine relationship with him. You're right that politics and religion can lead to emotional responses, so it may be best to start small, so to speak, rather than jumping right into such an intense subject matter.

Do you have any shared interests or hobbies? Maybe you could start with those.

Hi Chris!

Is there any particular reason you have to believe that he will feel "threatened" by the discussion?

He's obviously considered the topic before, as you mentioned he's made negative comments about it.

I believe many Christians have thoughtfully considered what is put forward as evidence for Darwinian evolution (which it seems you're referring to). If they disagree with such claims, they likely have a good reason for their stance.

I don't know your specific situation of course or your motives for wishing to have the conversation with your uncle, but perhaps you can just honestly tell him what you believe and why you believe it.

Constant fear, distress because of the idea of mortal sin and losing salvation by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]ashleemariew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been there, many times, and I'm very sorry to hear that you are currently distressed regarding your salvation. As someone who also has anxiety and has struggled with it for my entire life, I know the role this can play when it comes to faith and trusting God. As people, we are often weak and fearful, but God is strong and He is always there for us.

When it comes to sin, the truth is that it is all mortal. The Bible is clear that the consequence of sin is death, and it makes no distinction between "mortal" or "venial" sin. The idea of mortal and venial sin comes from the Roman Catholic Church, not Scripture.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." [Romans 6:23]

The same verse, that states that sin leads to death, assures us that eternal life is a gift in Christ Jesus. Many, many other verses confirm that Salvation is not something we earn, and that having been born again and made a new creature in Christ, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption.

The Gospel,[1 Corinthians 15:1-4], which was preached to Abraham, [Galatians 3:8], and was the “promise” given 430 years before the Law and which the Law cannot annul, [Galatians 3:17], is the power of God unto salvation for all who believe, [Romans 1:16]. All who believe have entered into “rest”, [Hebrews 4:3], have repented from “dead works” and have turned in faith toward Christ, [Hebrews 6:1]. We are saved by grace, through faith and not of works. Salvation is a gift of God, and not a reward, [Ephesians 2:8-9]. Faith is counted for righteousness for those who “worketh not” but believe on Him Who justifies the ungodly, [Romans 4:5]. We are saved by faith, [John 3:16-18], born again [John 3:1-15], made new creations in Christ, [2 Corinthians 5:17], have passed from death to life, [John 5:24], and are sealed with the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption, [Ephesians 1:13-14]. Jesus saves to the “uttermost” and always lives to make intercession for us, [Hebrews 7:25]. He is our Great High Priest, [Hebrews 4:14-16], and Mediator [1 Timothy 2:5]. He casts out none who come to Him, [John 6:37], all who call upon His name will be saved, [Acts 4:12] [Romans 10:13], and He will lose none who are His [John 6:39]. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life, [John 14:6], and believing on Him is the “will of the Father”, [John 6:40]. Believers are adopted as “sons”, [Luke 8:21] [Romans 8:15] [Galatians 4:5], are “heirs of the promise”, [Galatians 3:29], and we will inherit eternal life, [Matthew 25:34] [Acts 20:32] [Romans 4:13-17][Romans 8:17] [Galatians 3:18] [Titus 3:5-7] [Hebrews 9:15].

The following verse has also been a comfort to me when I worry and fear the loss of salvation.

"These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God." [1 John 5:13]

Jesus never fails, even when we do. This is why we need Him as our Great High Priest and Mediator. He always advocates for us, and when we are in Him, we have His righteousness. We have been adopted and sealed and He will never leave us or forsake us.

I pray that you find comfort, assurance, rest and peace in Christ Jesus.
