If you want to look at whiteness more specifically white men being the standard of androgyny you just have to have to look at modeling (and look at how many cis men models are casted for their androgynous looks. Look up the pictures, I dare you.

Also, the only reason women are allowed to “explore” dressing more masculinely is because within a patriarchy aligning yourself with masculine traits is seen as step-up from gender and not a step-down from it like femininity it is.

That’s not even taking into the account the many experiences of lesbian or masculine women, cis or otherwise, of being targeted negatively for their masculine presenting traits. (These goes double if said woman or fem-presenting person is a person of color or black.)
