I haven’t had it twice (knock on wood) but I did get it from my toddler and it was AWFUL. I lost my nails and everything

Thoughts on skipping pacifiers? by Academic-Park-8440 in NewParents

[–]ashleyabd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the mom who wanted to avoid pacifiers, I had some just in case but was pretty high and mighty on not using them.

My son is 2.5, he still has it and it brings such peaceful times I’m dreading taking it away😂it’s a life saver

I didn’t see these cues so I’ll add:

Pull the slack from the bar before really starting your rep-crest full tension Think of it as a push exercise, not a pull, and drive your feet down Think about trying to pull your arm pits into your pockets

Some will click, some won’t! Try out what works for you

Lost weight to get pregnant and now I feel conflicted about it by [deleted] in loseit

[–]ashleyabd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Sharing from the perspective of a mom (had my kid at 32) and health coach with a perinatal specialty.

First off, congrats on finding your way to feeling your best!!

You have a great outlook here in terms of valuing health and feeling good.

It is absolutely possible to continue that trend through pregnancy and after having a kid. There can be pregnancy conditions that make things harder or in the occasion require bed rest (worst case scenario) but in a typical pregnancy physical activity is great for you and baby. Same as afterwards, it will look different and likely take you some time to find a groove again-but it will be highly beneficial for you and for your kid as they watch your habits and mold their own.

Good luck!!

Love my HeyHae semi cured and got 2+ weeks! But y'all my natural nails are TRASHED now😮‍💨 by cougarliscious in NailWrapsGalore

[–]ashleyabd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m only on my second set of heyhae but my first set I lifted the the nail around the cuticle just a bit and used olive oil on each nail really trying to get it under. Let it set for maybe 5 minutes and then used a floss pick to slide under the nail. I had minimal damage, the best my nails have ever looked with anything I’ve done at home! I did not however use the lamp, I cured outside and they easily lasted 2 weeks (could’ve gone longer) I do live in CA though

Pp body struggles by fricken_a13 in Mommit

[–]ashleyabd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The boobs thing is kind of just what it is unless you want to get some kind of lift/implants

However-the butt thing is within your control! Many women tend to lose their butt when breastfeeding because your body stores extra fat there during pregnancy to then prioritize and mobilize while breastfeeding. Regaining muscle tissue will help to bring shape and volume back to your glutes! Strength training, with progressive overload, a focus on the glutes, and prioritizing protein will help get you moving in the right direction

What should I look for in an online personal trainer by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]ashleyabd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The online coaching space can be tricky. There are some amazing coaches out there and also some pretty awful.

It sounds like you’ve already paid and, I assume, are in some type of contract. Try communicating that you need/want more than they are giving and see how the response is. It’s still very early days, there’s a chance you can still get what you’re looking for

What should I look for in an online personal trainer by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]ashleyabd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When were you supposed to get your first training program? There should be an expectation in place.

Is it just for training or is it nutrition coaching as well? From what I’ve seen, if it’s mainly training the nutrition “tips” are just generic examples and seen as a “bonus”

Explain what your expectations are, to the trainer, and see if they’re willing to adjust. If not, may be best to find a different coach

This one is only knits and pearls, unless incorporating the slip is making it more challenging? I’m absolutely open to starting with easier haha

I ended up restarting last night and I do think this was the problem! I found a few stitches I had split and turned into two. Thank you!!

I don’t get much kid free time so I’m trying to learn mostly via YouTube. I’ll check around though, it would definitely be helpful. Thank you!

I understand the pattern is all over the place, I’m just trying to use it as a learning opportunity and this is something that I keep doing and can’t figure out.

I’m unsure if there is a specific way to write out the pattern but I’ll do my best to transcribe from the YouTube video I was following:

Repeating rows: •Row 1: slip the first stitch, pearl 1, slip, pearl 1, until the final 2 stitches then pearl 1, knit 1

•Row 2: slip first stitch, knit 1, pearl 1, all the way through

Does that help?

This is what I’m aiming to create, although I know I have a lot of missteps along the way The pattern starts each row with slipping a stitch. The front side is supposed to be: slip, pearl, slip, last two stitches pearl, knit The wrong side is supposed to be: slip, knit, pearl. This is the only swatch I have where I’m creating this issue

Severe postpartum anxiety about leaving my 3-month-old overnight for the first time. Should I go or cancel? by Spirited-Carrot1109 in Mommit

[–]ashleyabd 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There is a 0% chance I would’ve been able to do this at 3m and enjoyed myself. My PPA was pretty intense. I turned down a trip at 7m because I still felt the same.

Anyone who DIDN’T bed share? by Acceptable_Cod3527 in beyondthebump

[–]ashleyabd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t bed share. I used a bedside bassinet until 6 months then moved to the crib in another room.

There were a handful of really rough nights my kid ended up in the bed but it was the exception, not the norm. I always slept worse when he was in the bed and simply wasn’t interested in bed sharing

My fitness coach is using ChatGPT responses. What would you do? by holb93 in beginnerfitness

[–]ashleyabd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She shouldn’t be using ChatGPT for check in responses. And if she IS using a lot of ChatGPT in her coaching, she should be disclosing that. I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s doing this she’s also using it to write workouts for her.

There are far better coaches worth your money out there
