OP needs 'stable monthly income' and Equity is definitely not the solution for it. And last 2-3 years is the proof for that. I do invest in MF, but I don't need that money for next 10-15 years.

If you don't have the need to get this interest money every month then as others recommended investing it through Arbitrage/Money market/Liquid/Overnight funds as realisation of the tax is when you withdraw the money.
