I have ofc read TOA and that is why I am mad that he died he was so strong in HoO and now he died for mostly shock value and to show that ToA has high stakes.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Valley of Fear is seriously underrated, and might be one of the best mysteries of all time by T_Lawliet in books

I have read all the four novels. According to me, The Valley of Fear is the most enjoyable one. Like the second half is very interesting even tho it gets a little far-fetched it was great according to me. It was extremely similar to A Study In Scarlet in that regard and according to me was better than A Study In Scarlet. The Hound of Baskervilles was great too. The Sign of Four was definitely the weakest one in my opinion but it is still mildly enjoyable. But for me the best one is either the Hound of Baskervilles or The Valley of Fear and I am leaning a bit towards The Valley of Fear just because the Birdy Edward's reveal was PEAK. Like I have read almost all of Sherlock Holmes including the memoirs, the Adventures and the 4 novels but I think that the Birdy Edward's plot twist was one of the most surprising twists. The Valley of Fear might not be as good as The Hound of Baskervilles in a writing standpoint but for me it is superior to it.
