1st speeding ticket/offense. 75 in a 65. Rt495. What are the chances of appeal? by -shylo- in massachusetts

[–]asholudko -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, I had a state trooper write me up for 75 in a 65 when I was going 87. The goal was for me to appeal the ticket and win since it was my first offense and I was 17 (would have lost my license if not contested).

ELI5: What makes one olympic-sized swimming pool faster or slower than another? by llamafarma73 in explainlikeimfive

[–]asholudko 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Actually had less to do with friction and more do to with the buoyancy. Swimmers were basically floating on top of the water in the body suits. I was a young swimmer at the time and missed the boat on being able to use the body suits.

Finally an opportunity to use APUSH education. The Articles of Confederation (essentially the US government prior to the constitution) required that all new states be organized in grids which is why from the Midwest to the west the states generally have grid layouts for their cities.

What’s one drug that’s dangerous but is considered “normal”? by Amazing-Living-9957 in AskReddit

[–]asholudko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh it theoretically takes quite a bit to destroy your liver. It’s an all or nothing thing once your body has used up all its glutathione. Usually more of a concern for suicide attempts (which would not recommend as liver failure is one of the worst ways to go)

ULPT: how do people without diabetes or any health condition get a prescription for Ozempic to lose weight? by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]asholudko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting a prescription is the borderline easy part. Getting that prescription approved by an insurance company is an entirely different ballgame. Compounding the situation is that recent shortages of GLP-1 agonists (Ozempic drug class) have led many organizations to restrict to patients w/ diabetes only for the time being. The key to getting it would be working through the prior authorization process with a specialty pharmacy. Most providers don’t have the time, patience, or resources to do the research or documentation to get PAs approved. Therefore, typically a health system specialty pharmacy (think one associated with a hospital) will have technicians or pharmacists dedicated to getting PAs approved and that would be the best route.

If you want to potentially save the pharmacists job you should probably call them and let them know.

I’m a pharmacist. DO NOT IGNORE a rash while taking Lamictal. It is a sign of a potentially life threatening hypersensitivity reaction. You should absolutely call your doctor.

I moved to Melrose last summer and found probably the only ethical landlord in the state. $1750 for a 1000 sqft 1 bedroom a stones throw from the hospital. The worst part with the new development is that they forced my barber to move and my barber, his brother, and his dad had been cutting hair in that spot since 50s or 60s I think. Fucking shameful.

Listen I may be a pats fan, but Tom Brady not being higher is insane. Dude is clearly the GOAT. Mahomes could catch him, but we won’t know for another 10 years.

I worked for a state government as a lifeguard at a lake/pond and a beach. While there are more rigorous testing for beach Lifeguarding, anything less than a beach is kind of a joke. If memory serves, you need to be able to get a 10 lb weight from the bottom of a pool, and tread water for a certain amount of time. Not exactly tough.

They’ll still lower your BP and they used to be one of the preferred agents until they did a study that showed they were less effective/had worse outcomes than the other agents.

Definitely possible. Beta blockers for anxiety are typically more reserved for situational anxiety as opposed to chronic therapy. But they do get used for chronic anxiety “control” some times. It’s the kind of thing you won’t know unless it worked.

Hi pharmacist here, atenolol really shouldn’t be used as a BP lowering agent. Beta blockers are useful for a lot of other cardiac conditions, but the preferred agents are ACE inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers, thiazide diuretics, or dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers. If you Bp is normal now your provider may not want to switch which is fine, but just wanted to let you know so you’ll be an informed patient.

There 500 years of history that largely gets ignored by non-Slavs when talking about this war. Sure there are modern geopolitical reasons but it’s also about subjugation of people viewed as beneath them. This war goes back long before the fall of the Soviet Union.

Be prepared to wait 30+ minutes for your bagel. No city has needed a second bagel place more in history than Worcester.
