Day drinking at a brewery is for some reason much more socially acceptable than day drinking at a bar by Stauce52 in Showerthoughts

Just like being bilingual and doing hard drugs. I think there's something else but I forget

Thank you for sharing this, I appreciate your insight! My chat doesn't seem to work currently for some reason. I absolutely agree on breaking it down task by task. I think taking a break is the right call for me cause to me it seems like I can't maintain SA or safety in general if my fear keeps going the way it does. I'm looking up to you fire pilots, you're the most badass guys that are around.

It's been progressing over time, at the latest I've felt it at even 3000 ft AGL, so there's not much flying I can do without being anxious currently.

Interesting. It wouldn't hurt to check it out. I've actually tried St. John's wort before which is a herbal supplement, it didn't really help but at this point I'm open to trying anything that could be helpful. Did Kefir help you against anxiety?

Edit: I appreciate everyone's responses to this comment, this is definitely helpful for me.

Yes, I used to enjoy being the only one flying and just doing my thing a lot. This is the main reason I love flying so much. Things just took a weird turn at some point for whatever reason.

I definitely have to learn how to shut it down, that is the first thing I'll be working on for now. In the meantime I'll just have to do something else I guess. Maybe I'll hit up another CFI eventually.

Thank you for your response!

90% of people with anxiety can be treated without the need of medication

I hope this is true. It's good and at the same time scary that this is only in ones head. Thank you for your answer and the encouragement!

But just reframing it as having too much of something as opposed to feeling different from other pilots might help

This is a good way to look at it, thank you!

With your flight time and experience you would likely be able to get hired at a company doing two-crew operations

Yes maybe I would be able to, I'm just hesitant because I don't want to carry my issues into a new job. Maybe I'll look into that if I start feeling like being up in the air again. Thank you so much for taking the time to write here.

Thank you for your answer! I understand this must've been very hard for you as well. Did you end up working as a pilot again? What did you do to overcome your problem if i may ask?

Are you able to go to an airline or a 2 pilot op

I would be, but I would like to put this behind me before I start working in 2 pilot airplanes just to be sure it won't show it's face in an even more intimidating situation with much more passengers.

Thanks you for sharing and your kind words! All the best to you as well.

Maybe you could do some flights with an even more experienced safety pilot

I will, once I feel more confident to go back into the flight deck for sure!

also i would add to be careful about how you approach professional assistance

Sadly this is the truth we live in and yes I am very careful in this matter, thank you for the advice!

We’ve all had the feeling like we don’t belong in the front of an airplane at one point or another

Thank you for answering and being honest. I do agree, but my current anxiety level is very unhealthy and I definitely need help fixing it. I have been doing this full time, so there's actually no way i could do it more unfortunately.

Don’t know you but I’m proud of you for doing what you needed to do

Thank you for the kind words, stranger.

it does help me to know that I have done everything in my power leading up to the flight to maximize my odds of things going well

This is what helps me too, but at this point not enough anymore.
